Can anybody reccommend me a wireless router?
I'm on Virgin Media which has the co-axal (?) lead connection.. but need to go wireless now, not sure what I need? My laptop isn't wireless enabled so i'll need the bit for that too.. Don't want to spend much either!! :D

Gutted... I threw a wireless cable router in the bin just last week :(
Netgear WGR614 will do the job for you http://www.ebuyer.com/product/48546
Nick, I have a Belkin which you can have at mates rates. I bought it ages ago when we were with AOL but it is no good with my sky and I don't need it anymore.

Anyone with Virgin who's still looking for a wifi thingy, watch out for 'Linksys'. It's Vpoor. Get one of the above.
I have the netgear stated, its very good and rarely fails.
Had a belkin before which was a NIGHTMARE.
I had a Belkin which consistently broke down
I must get myself a new one. Sick of having to plug in all the time.
Another recomendation for the netgear. I bought a refurbed one off ebay. I went form ADSL to cable, and sold my £100 6 month old router for the £30 i paid for my Netgear MIMO router i have now. Talk about depreciation :(
So which Netgear router do you recommend then folks? Im only on 2mb Virgin connection.

Firstly. When you are on VM's cable services. You need to be careful what router (both wired/wireless) you use. what is the point of buying a 20Mb service if your router can only handle 11Mb etc.
Note. I am talking wan<->lan throughput not wireless speed before some smartarse says my router does 54mb etc. even more important if you have the beans when VM finally introduce their long awaited 50Mb service.
If your router provider does specify a speed. Go elsewhere. Additionaly if you have any issues VM will not help until you have removed the router and installed your pc into the back of the cable modem.
Belkin are utter pants. Avoid.
I install Netgear kit all the time and its pretty reliable.

Call Virgin and say you're nt happy with the speed and price, and you're thinking of leaving. They upped mine to 10MB and reduced the monthly rate by about £15.
I had the netgear router and it went faulty after 10 months. Also needed one that could be picked up at the corners of the house, and this one couldn't. Got a refund and bought a D-Link :
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114163 and the signal strength is awesome. Cost about £80.
