MOTOSLIDERS IS that a big enough recomendation:confused:....search for threads with those and my user name and you'll find countless recomendations from me and others that have em...HTH:thumbsup:
get em off SVracing parts from ebay, they are from the U.S but cheaper and far superior to Rand G. Oh and you will have to search em as frame sliders if you try looking on ebay!

From what I've heard OEM crash mushrooms are poooo! Don't get 'em. I've got motosliders on mine and they look pretty cool.

they will, but you have to make adjustment to the fairing, on some of the other motosliders threads, Dangerous Dave? I think has given a description of what to do.
The motosliders fit on a bar straight through the frame

the parent company run out on a regular basis which is why I suggest the ebay seller, hes still an official supplier

Motosliders!!!
Don't waste you money on R&G's you'll only cry when you test them and realise you made the wrong choice!!!
To fit the Motosliders you will need two 19mm deep sockets, two short extension bars, a good breaker bar, and a good medium torque wrench. Off the top of my head I cannot remember the size of the sockets you need to remove the standard main engine mount bolt but you can check that on your own SV.

1. Using the 2 socket wrenches, and 17mm sockets, remove the bolt from the main engine mount.
2. Use a locking agent on the loose nut. The nut already tightened has Red Loctite already applied. Insert new bolt with nut, and slider around it. Make sure slider with smaller base is on the rider’s right of the bike.
3. Put the 37mm washer on the left side of the bike, around the bolt.
4. Put the remaining slider on the bolt.
5. Insert the remaining included nut into one of the 19mm sockets.
6. Using the 19mm socket and extension, thread the nut onto the bolt until “finger-tight”.
7. Using the other 19mm socket and extension, as well as the socket wrenches, tighten the nuts.
8. Torque to 65 ft-lbs.

Motosliders it is then!!:smt045
My R&G crash bungs bsaically saved the whole side of my bike, had to buy a new bung at £25 but not new fairing etc...So another one out to R&G.
im in need of some advice regarding this!!! after recently sliding the bike at around 15mph the R&G crash bungs that were fitted has now bent up, now do i get a replacement R&G bung or get the motosliders?? should it have bent up at such a low speed
oh and must ass it didnt bend so much that they became useless it did save the paintwork on the bike!!
cheers

Personally I would get a set of Motosliders, either from Nate at Motosliders (http://www.motosliders.com/) or from Blair at SV Racing Parts (http://stores.ebay.com/SV650-Racing-Parts).
You could always contact R&G for a new bung and bolt, would be waste of time as it will do the same if you crash again.
should it have bent up at such a low speed
No, the shape of the bung and the strength of the bolt are the two main weakness' to the R&G design. When you over come these two issues, a few more come to light which is why I do not recommend them especially as an engineer at R&G will agree that it is a flawed design.
oh and must ass it didnt bend so much that they became useless it did save the paintwork on the bike!!
But it bent, this means the bolt is even more weaker now. If this bolt was to snap there would be no protection on that side of the bike.
A crash bung will not stop all damage, but 90% of accidents I would say that a decent crash bung had kept the repair costs down and possibly saved some write offs. It is also worth mentioning that there have been no failures with Motosliders.
that cleared up everything!!! have you had experience of the swing arm sliders they do as im looking at the package deal they do and it seems good value....
cheers

Unless you've got lower fairings fitted, the current R&Gs are just a bad choice- expensive and not very good. And this is their third attempt at an SV bung as well, at least it's better than the first try. I've tested Motosliders myself and they do crash much better than the current R&Gs, and they're cheaper.
just got an email back from motosliders themselves and they say they are out of stock but a supplier isnt!!! sounds silly to me oh well!! ebay it is :)

Nate at Motosliders makes them himself, he is not a huge company like R&G, and his dealers and race suppliers tend to snap up most of his stock as he makes them.
Speak to Blair at SV Racing Parts (http://stores.ebay.com/SV650-Racing-Parts), it is an Ebay shop, he is very good and will keep you up to date. I found all items I have purchased through him arrives within 7 days from the date of order. I can't fault him or Nate at all in their service.

Small place like his would not exist for too long if he was selling crap. He's been around a while.

Aye, just shows how good Motosliders are.
R&G would not survive if they only made SV crash bungs, fortunately they do make crash bungs that work for other bikes.
wel i just looked at how they are actually mounted to the bike and its not even the most recent version it just has a bracket thing mounted across the frame which the bungs are fitted to, guess it could have been worse and they could have snapped but are these the right motosliders so much text its confusing me with all the different dates!!

oh aye, if you buy the sliders and the swinger bobbins, you get a small discount :-)
BTW Dave i've noticed after my little slide, that I can turn the sliders round. Do they always do this or do they perhaps need torqueing back up?

You need to remove and check them first, if okay then torque them back up. The shouldn't move by hand.

well its in the list of things to do then, as i got a spare sent over, may as well do it while bits n pieces are off the bike

Depending on the condition of the marked one you may not need to replace it, think you showed me it before and it looked ok. However, it is your bike so if you wish to fit an unscathed one thats fair enough.

I like my bikes looking pristine..
TBH I wasn't going to swap it, til i realised I could rotate it, as theres another slides worth on it(not that I'm planning one) I was going to keep it, til perhaps a time came when I sold the bike. I quite like the scars its carrying:-) I'm almost getting used to the huge split down the fairing too..shhhhhhhh ;-)
