View Full Version : Project Garden - On My Lonesome
Well after having a nice conservatory fitted, bank account looking pretty diminished, i thought i would build my own decking area.
I didnt like the look of ordinary decking as everyone has that so i opted for something a bit different. It is built on wooden stilts to!
so here was the pics form start to finish. still need to add some more stain but that can be done at a later date.....Who needs builders eh! Not me!

That's fab! What did you seal the boards with? I've got something similar in my garden, and I've tried decking stain after decking stain, and they either peel off or take ten coats to get a colour.
Heh, at least I'm not the only one doing work in the back garden...
Good work, keep up the effort... maybe I should take pics of "Work in progress"

I sanded the boards. I then used ronseal decking stain. 3 coats. after i applied cuprinol anti slip deck treatment and then clear sealent wood sealer. The paint part of it has cost me over £150!
costs below
TREATED WOODEN POSTS = £30
POST CEMENT = 50
ALL THE 2X4 FOR THE FRAME WORK TREATED = £100
BOARDS = FREE!
PAINT = £150
RAILS AND SPINDLES = £100
LIGHTS = £80
LABOUR = FREE
SO i done this project for about £500. Not bad seeing as the 3 qoutes i got averaged at 2K
Still - im now creating a very unique water feature in my garden and once finished will post up!

its not you standing in the middle peeing into a plant pot drunk as a skunk is it as i REALLY dont want to see that!
...costs...
Hmm, where did you source the wood from? I was expecting more for that part of the job.
BTW, I'm not building decking, I'm building a bike workshop :D

Ill PM you how i got the wood!
the finished size was 3m x 8m. taking into account if i had to buy normal boards the cost would have been £10 psqm at 24 sqm = 240 smakers!

I bet there is some poor bloke wondering where his scaffold boards have gone off his job ;)
I see you used the Hire tech HT8-1 Floor sander as well, from your local Hire shop I hope :)
I need to get out more :smt087:smt087
