View Full Version : The all new 650F
This is the new GSX 650F, the replacement of the Katana...
To me it looks like an I4 SV full dressed, but with better ergos...
I wish that Suzuki would had design a unique tail light for this bike instead of reusing a tail light used before in the past.

Some describe it as a dressed Bandit...
Others as the 650 version of the GS500.
The dealer called it the Katana replacement.
Just a new model for 2008 that looks good and feels good to sit on...

Have a look at the forum link in my signature for the best info and discussion about the GSX, it's a bit of an orhpan. The GSXR pages don't want to know, the Bandit forums don't want to know and neither do the old GSXF (katana USA) forums.
Hehe "all new" :)
I hear they're okay, though, actually. But then I guess that means the Bandit is okay, which, as far as I'm aware, it is.

OK, do what they're supposed to. Not particularly interesting.
It's still a blandit.
Also got the usual suzuki trick of putting gixxer-looking lights on slow bikes, which is a sure way to look silly.

I believe its a K5 GSXR Thou fairing.
It looks ****e IMHO
It has the same headlight as the K5/6 gixer thou. I had one on demo when my MT was in the workshop as a loan bike. It's actually pretty good dare I say it. OK it's a tad heavy compared to the SV but goes, stops and handles pretty well. It's comfortrable as well. A good all rounder.
I'm not struck on the style that much, the black exhaust headers look a tad cheap and could prove a problem to keep clean. Also compared to the Bandit S it does not have the optionof ABS or main stand (neither is arguabley a big deal).
Not my cup of tea, better than the SV? well that depends on what your'e going to be using it for. The SV(s) is more nimble, lighter but less rounded. Maybe it just needs a little more unique character instead of borrowing it from other bikes. Bit of a heinz 57.
Looks ok, but 220kg??
That's close to the Bandit 1250.
Yup, Katana here in the states. I good friend was looking to move to something bigger than his GS500F and was considering this, but decided it wasn't a big enough change. Fairly upright seating position, deceptively heavy (I don't know if the balance point is higher or what?), it's not really anything I'd fancy. When you put it head to head with other I4 of the same displacement it's pretty dissapointing, IMO.

Yes, I am in the US and this bike is very new to us...
We have always had the naked bandit or the dressed Katana.
This GSX650F is like a mix of the two.
But must important, I am looking for comfort on a sport bike setting and this seems to be the one. I am going to research some more and proabably will jump the wagon.
I am kind of waiting for the 2009 SV650 to come out but I doubt it would be any comfy, it for sure will be more on the race edge then on the comfort zone as the 650F seems to be.
Thank you for the forum link, I should be able to find all info needed about the bike there.
Take care!

Nah they aren't a sports bike, if you want a comfy sports bike then what about the FZ1 type thing?
