View Full Version : Trade in's
Got a trade in price from Riders in Bristol, yesterday, on a Harley Davidson Nightster, (i know but hey i'm getting old)
650 sport, 10 months old with 1000 miles on the clock, they reckon it is only worth £2500 !:smt119
At that sort of money, does not warrant getting rid, reckon it must be worth £3000 - £3200 on the private market.
Don't think i will ever buy another new bike.............depreciation sucks:nomore:

What did you expect when you bought it?
Anyway you're buying a hardly driveable you deserve to get conned :-P
Want a comfy riding position then get a KTM :-P
I got £2800 for mine trade in.
1 year 4 months old.........4700 on the clock.
Now up for £3400 in the dealers I traded it in at.
Really it depends on what sort of deal you are getting on the new bike really.

Sell it private, you'll get a better deal that way. As will the person buying it

Better money for both parties, but not necessarily a better deal. Lots of people are happier buying at a dealer as it provides some peace of mind - both pre and post sales checks, test rides, warranty etc.
If you are confident buying privately then great, but dealers have a place.

Always nice to know what a dealer would offer you, I have no means of transport if i was rid so nope, I have sworn to my folks i would get rid as they and my missus have begged me. But atm I still ain't confident to get out on it, I mean first time i crashed the other one I was riding about my estate in first gear with one foot on the pillion peg as i wanted to ride again, I havent found that enthusiasm just yet. But I won't be selling just yet dw.
I may have smething a little more important to think about that would mean getting a car, not good I tell thee.

my local dealer said a good condition one like my black one would give me 1200, but 17-1800 private, which I bought it for last year.

Did you get the optional plow attachment? That would make the Harley a useable vehicle and improve the trade-in ;) :D

Aw Stu. Give it time. And don't let other people tell you what to do. It's your life, not theirs. They make their decisions and I don't spose that you tell them what to do.
