Thought i'd create this to save Hovis from taking over his thread.

Yeah Hovis got a bit arsey didn't he ;):-$ Just jesting mate :smt081

I'm free all day until the evening - I've got other stuff to do but I can plan it round the ride. As per DMC, I can only be out for a couple of hours really but doesn't matter to me what time it is. I'd have a preference for either 10am or 1pm though so I can either have the morning or afternoon free.

Route looks good Binky - do you want to PM me your address and I can come to yours 15 mins before the meet time and drop off the panniers / tailpack?

Cheers,
Matt

Im easy on the time too. Shall we call it 10am as Binky said that was his preference?

(Got one eye on the weather forecast - Not looking promising at mo. I dont mind riding in the wet, but not sure I'll come out for a couple of hours just to get a soakin? No offence guys :smt022)

Ok, we'll say 10am at Basset's Pole for the rideout assuming the weather's ok. If we post in this thread around 9am Saturday morning to make a decision based on the weather?

If weather is looking crap for a ride I'll just pop up to meet you Binky and give you the stuff and we can arrange another week for a proper ride yeah?

If I don't go out Saturday I might be allowed out Sunday morning instead to meet you on the Sunday rideout!

Shall we make a preliminary meeting time for 10 at BP on the Saturday and then if the weather is really unridably bad then we could always meet on the sunday morning instead.

What do people think to the back up plan???

Yep, meet on Sat morn at 10am weather permitting. Back up plan for Sunday morning. It's looking pretty rubbish for both days at the moment!

So who's actually coming to Bassets Pole tommorrow for 10???

As far as i'm aware its just DMC, Binky (me) and Cartwrim. Is that correct?

...and what are we doing about judging the weather. I certainly don't mind going if it dark or even a little drizzly. What does everyone else think?

Forecasts are conflicting at mo, Beeb says heavy rain whereas Metcheck says sun & showers all day  I dont mind a bit of light rain, but dont fancy a real soakin! I'll post about 9 tmrw morning when I know what its going to be like  fingers crossed anyway :)

I'm still coming along - it might not be the best day for a ride (doubt I'll be threatening me knee sliders :-dd!) but it would be good to meet you fellas - Binky I'll still be at the Jet garage for 9:45; and if everyone's happy we can still do the earlier proposed route.

Are we meeting on pub car park or Maccies?

Binky

Pub car park i'd say is the best bet. Ok i'll be waiting at the Jet garage at 9.45 Cartwrim.

Just studied the weather on the met office website. According to thier rainfall charts the tail end of some rain will be passing over around BP around ten so i think as the morning goes on it will dry up/ not rain.

Morning. Ok, decided to come along, sod the weather. Want to meet in Maccy D's car park instead, then I can get a coffee? :)

Good to meet you Matt & good to see you again Patrick :thumleft: Was a nice ride, suprised the weather stayed hot & sunny - feel like Ive been riding around wrapped in cling film though (note to self - dont wear waterproofs unless raining!)

As requested, link to route: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=110068799710829728603.00045147866279053091a&ll=52.70058,-1.650031&spn=0.515948,1.84845&z=9

Will have to get out again before the trip :D

Binky
05-07-08, 02:41 PM
Thanks for that link DMC.=D> I think i'll definately try some of those roads out again at some point.:)

Count me in for another ride before Germany as well. (Or should i say Belgium)

carty
06-07-08, 01:00 AM
Yep thanks for the ride fellas :D Was good to meet you both, check you're not axe murderers etc ;)

If we can get out again before going to cough* Belgium*cough then that will be good.

DMC - boil in the bag man is not good! When I got home I was steaming and that was without the waterproofs on top! I too was surprised it stayed so good, forecast was a lot worse!

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Lyle,

Theres 3 of us coming from Brum, gonna do M6/M1/M25/M20 (not good I know). You ok to meet at Watford Gap services, will probably be around 9-9.15am?

Gonna neet Chris at South Mimms just off M25.

Hovis, we'll probably meet you & Dilligaf at Maidstone svs on M20. I think Binky's spending the night before in Hastings & gonna meet us in Dover.

Will post in the other thread with full details nearer the time :D
