As per title and following on from the derailed AR08 thread. It's been bantered about to have a mini AR experience involving exclusively members of the TVSF.

So let's discuss.

Topics raised so far are a trip to France. A trip to Worcestershire on Philbut's farm. Costs and time.

My personel choice would be to keep it in the UK. In fact I'd want to keep it within England. If for nothing else but to keep costs down and make it affordable to as many people as possible.

I'm keen, but can only do it on the cheap.. Money is tight atm.. Not fussed where we go as long as there are some nice roads to ride :-)

I'm with you all counts. To be honest, I aint that fussed about the roads to ride. Just pitch a tent, get a mini bbq on the go and drink beer.

I'm in agreement with Si here. Nice roads would be good but I think that camping with mates and having a nice barby would take priority.
I am off to Turkey in August and everybody else at work is trying to get there holidays in so, a weekend where I am off on the Fri, Sat and Sun would be best for me. I get every other weekend off so hopefully I will be able to attend whatever we decide on.

Devil Biccy

I shall be free to ride in 3 weeks but maybe limited to the total distance I can do dependant on Heart Rate and also Doctors advice. If I can't ride then I will come in the car and pitch up.

StreetHawk

I suggest somewhere on the south coast.. Will have a look around and find a few options. Agree with above, camping, barby, beer and good company is priority :-)

I'm in for a cheap weekend.

Whilst I definately think we should pick a good route through the twisties to get to the campsite I personally would prefer the emphasis to be on having a laugh together ie ensure that we can stay up late drinking beers without worrying about what time we have to wake up in the morning.

UK would be best for me. One thing to consider, if we pick somewhere which is reasonably close then anyone who cant make the ride during the day can still come by car or bike for the evening festivities. Heck I might even be able to get the gf to join us?

Guys I would love to come along just hang out and ride da bikes:D I'm in between soho and TV, well someone has to be:p

If you do ahead and I'm around I will come, can#t make the bbq this w/end as I'm working:( On the upside I do have van which could used for moving stuff for the w/end but I'm not that close to many people where I am.

New Forest is always an option. Its 1hr 30 by motorway (for those who just want to camp) and I am sure that we could find some decent roads to get there.

New Forest sounds good to me. Loads of campsites to choose from and must me some V nice roads to ride. If we all get the friday off then we could get down there earlyish, dump the gear at campsite and do a nice rideout then return to camp for , beers, foods, getting wasted, letting hair down, talking bo.l.l.okcs, making ****s of oursleves etc etc...

That's the sort of stuff I'm thinking. :thumleft:

We need to select the location carefully, a bunch of blokes (and ladeez) boozing and being ars*s, it's likely to be loud (ish) and late.

I'm trying to remember a campsite just outside the New forest I went to with Londonbikers a few years back, It was by a canal, with a pub on site and the campsite owners were used to having noisy bikers plus some great roads around the A3/M3 area

I guess some could do a long weekend some could do a shorter one? Or August Bank Holiday, although that would be very busy and probably bound to rain! :D I would have problems getting more time off work so I would most likely be travelling after work on a Friday.

I think we need a poll of destinations and a poll of dates :-)

Don't mind who's coming along, the more the merrier! I've found this (http://www.forestholidays.co.uk/camping__caravanning/england/new_forest/roundhill.aspx) place in the new forest. Was down that way last year and remember some lovely traffic free roads..

Stig
10-07-08, 05:08 PM
Get your maps out and suggest a few places. I'll put up a poll with the options and see what comes out. After that we need dates thrown about and then another poll for that.

I can't do 3rd weekend in August as my daughter is coming for a visit.

I'd suggest September some time as August seems difficult for several people.

Cool. Well as it looks like people are going towards the new Forest idea, I'll go for that too - I can go to my farm any time. If there is a chance that you might wanna use it I'd need to speak to my old man about what fields would be suitable as I'm not sure what crops are in at the moment. I'll have a word with him this weekend so we can possibly have it as a backup.

We can play with fire.

I presume This place (http://www.forestholidays.co.uk/camping__caravanning/england/new_forest/roundhill.aspx)has hot running water as the website says that it has refurbished toilets and showers. It has a motorcycle field and a rally field so they must be ok with people being a bit noisy. Dunno about fires though.

Your ace you are.

I just phoned them and they said they have no issues with us using the ready made BBQ packs. So the playing with fire bit is taken care of. As is the hot running water. I didn't ask any more questions than that.

Well you know me, I am sensible, if no fire is allowed, then I won't make a fire. But you as an army bod should know, first thing in a survival situation is to make a fire, its a huge morale boost! Camp fires are great, there are marshmallows, sausages on sticks (i once cooked and ate a raw piece of bacon on a rusty pole :D), brews, er, fire. Its all good. Sitting around a fire drinking is the best. Maybe they will have a dedicated camp fire site? Sometimes they do.
