It was going to fly over Liverpool and then to Fairford in Gloucestershire apparantly. Not very exotic is it really. Bet the pilot was miffed :)

Wow they're in use :) I was following these a lot in the development stages, very interesting some of the trouble they had to overcome. Amazing bit of machinery. Won't be able to cope with Heathrow I don't think, I remember watching the Jumbos there a few years ago and they don't have much room to play with at the end of runway to clear it.

A lot and a lot, quite a lot bigger than a jumbo!

Although I hate flying, I do want to save to go on one :)

I've got some video footage of it on me camera too, will try and upload it. We were standing by the crash gate at the end of runway 2 with about 50 other people and the plane was banking left and right so it looked like it was waving as it flew the length of the runway.

It has indeed according to bbc website. It's worth going to see it if you get the chance to go to Farnborough though.

A lot of work has gone into the fuel efficiency and noise pollution on that aircraft. It is significantly quieter than other aircraft (when it flew overhead it was weird the way it crept up on you!) and the fuel burn is waaay more efficient than older aircraft.

Besides, if you believe all that you read about the CO2 'scare' you need to do some more research.

Trace :)

It was extremely quiet. It did a touch and go on the runway before giving it full power and lifting off again right overhead and you could hardly hear it.

A fully laden A380 can carry 50% more passengers than a 747-400. So for every 3 A380s that go up fully laden, you can take a 747-400 out of the sky.

Of course, they have to be full!!

Did you see the vacuum powered toilet system that fires turds at 70mph along it's tubes. Awesome!

What's the point? It's just a slightly bigger than normal battery farm...

You won't be able to use the casino yet.

They're not due to fly with casino's until 2012.

So they have gone the route of the double decker aircraft.Very sensible, and so much more practical than our own Transport For London who went for the Bendy idea.
