This wouldn't happen to be a halfords tent would it?

There was a reason why I didn't camp, and that's it

Our tent would've stayed up were it not for the elastic through one of the poles snapping. Three cheers for Hellfrauds quality control!

You get what you pay for in tents, MissYC and myself were in a vango one with proper poles and guy lines and such, I don't think it noticed the wind at all [/smug] :-P

The elastic through the poles has NOTHING to do with the ability of the poles to hold the tent up - its merely there to hold the pole parts together in transit.

Problem was, as warned in other threads, Halfords tents are cack.

Glad you managed to get a refund tho :)

We need something bigger so a Vango Beta 250 is the way to go for us, although my coleman was fine and is fine, just not for 2 people and all the gumph that goes with camping and biking.

Viney, I have a Vango Delta 300+ that you are more than welcome to borrow if you want when you need it.

Trufax to that BUT we had to lash it all together with brown tape, and it generally was a bit ghetto.

It was too good an opportunity to miss my freind. I saw you staggering around towards the tent and a thought popped into my brain....."Ohhhhhhh.....Rugby Tackle opportunity". :D Sorry I spoiled your erection though Hovie

Mine has so far proved immune to rain, high winds, hailstones, fire, muller rice, having an oil drum balanced on top of it, and multiple drunks falling on it at 5am. It did succumb when someone drove a s**t-tanker over a corner at Reading one year though, had to replace a pole. And it smells a bit funny, for some reason.

Do it, they're definitely worth it! YC had a Vango one man tent that we both managed to sleep in as well as our walking stuff on a weeklong hike in the Lakes in the middle of a heatwave and we/it survived :D

I'll add my recommendations for Vango tents. Mine is a Vango Gamma 250, which is huge and has a massive porch; it all folds up and packs into Oxford Sports panniers with lots of room to spare and no need to expand them. I've had it about 5 years and it's been hellishly abused but never let me down.
