ooo, this is comfy...

anyone else got one of these?

after my little spill a few weeks back and as i'm taking the new KTM tracking i thought it was about time i got a real back protector and not use the comedy foam that comes with most jackets. have always thought that most protectors looked a bit stiff and heavy so i've waited for the aegis to appear, ordered one on wednesday and got it today, very comfy, like wearing an empty backpack, very flexible and hopefully very tough, although i'm not intending to test that...

Does it still use the velcro-type belt?

I have the commuter version from 2 years ago - forget what it's called - but the velcro on it went pretty quickly. Basically because it's only half velcro - the other half being a sort of soft cloth material - it wears very easily.

The cloth has become 'smooth' (hard to explain unless you see it) and I have to hold the belt down while putting the thing on (the 'belt' of it goes just under the 'belt' of my leathers and once under there and the trousers are on, it stays).

It became worn about 6 months of continuous use. Emailing Knox brought nothing but silence.

Oops, turned into a bit of a rant hasn't it! Apologies! I hope you get on with yours - I think the Knox designs are great, despite the belt, but their customer service is god-awful...

not 100% sure what you mean, there's a velcro type belt with three different velcro contacts over my stomach but nothing below the line of my leathers, basically like this:

So, do Leonardo and the other Ninja turtles come out to play too when you go tracking :)

Probably a combination of the fact my belt is not as thick, and that I maybe wear mine a little lower...but yeah its that belt. If you have the same style belt there are essentially 4 'arms' to the belt - 2 each side, with one on top of the other on each side. The inside two fold over each other (one has velcro on) and then the outer two are used to pull it a bit tighter - they are elasticated and have velcro on that enables them to stick to the inner arms.

Basically if you have a combination of velcro and smooth cloth (rather than the traditional hook-and-loop velcro combination) then it could well wear out. And then Knox will ignore you :( even though they are the 'best in the business'.
