View Full Version : Breaking SV650 K5

I am breaking my trusty K5 naked SV. I've owned it from new, but have had to pinch a few parts from it to keep my racing bike alive.
It's lost its engine and both wheels so far, the rest I'm selling. It's mostly stirpped down now and I'm cleaning all the parts before storing them. Let me know what you want and I'll see if I have it. I won't list every component here until the list shortens.
You can find pictures of the bike on photobucket (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l109/sv650_2006/) and I'll happily post others of the parts if you wish. Everything is standard, including the full exhaust. It was dropped from it's side stand once, and the tank has a tiny dent/mark in it.
I'll send most parts via signed-for courier - between £5 and £10 postage depending on size and destination. Or come and see me at a BMCRC race meeting, or collection from near Brighton.
I've also got a few sets of part worn Pirelli Super Corsa Pro tyres....
Cheers,
Gary

If YHJ can I have first dibs on front fender? (Warthog has first dibs for YC2, lol)
Also, you say you have stripped the engine out, has the front sprocket cover gone also? If not can I bagsy?

Hi All,
Sorry - can't answer the paint code question from my desk at work - will check tonight and post an answer ASAP. to all those who've asked, I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
But so far I see it as firsst dibs are:
- front fender, warthog or Drew Carey (depending on colour code)
- Sprocket cover is there if you want it Drew
- calipers I'll post pictures and price to TheShadow
- Brake lever and seat first dibs to fallen angel
- frame and swing arm Stephen Gilpin
Must get back to work - more this evening.

I have checked some paint code websites and they seem to suggest that the K5 blue is YC2.

Hehe no thanks matey, I need the blue because having a black one on my blue bike makes it painfully obvious that I tried to insert my sv into a mercedes

Gear shift lever please Gary - is it original?

I have checked some paint code websites and they seem to suggest that the K5 blue is YC2.
Checked the sales receipt - it's YC2. Warthog, it's yours.
Sorry to all those awaiting piccys - got to the garage in a rush and without my camera :( So it'll be tomorrow for the photos. I'll sort through everyhing that is there and list/photo it.
cbch: Gear lever is original - in fact the only change I made to the whole bike was a set of braided lines for the front and a B&C air filter. I've still got the original lines and filter too!! Never one to throw things away, a habbit that has led to a full garage!!
Sottondan: Tyres are fine for road or track day use - I used to use them myself. They are worn on the edges, and mostly done a race meeting (4 races and the practice day of the next meeting). Loads of tread left in the centre. They're a bit crap in the wet though as they don't retain the heat. I've got some older Supercorsas, and the new Diablo Supercorsas. SC1 front and SC2 rear.
Cheers,
Gary

I'm still getting pictures of all the parts, the bike hasn't been used for a while and all I did was remove the engine last month. It's now buried in a corner of the garage - I'm working my way towards it. I wasn't expecting such immediate interest, so am struggling to catalogue everything as quickly as I need to.
Some pictures attached... (Black crash bungs match the K5+ frame, come complete with bolts etc).

And lastly tonight, the tyres.
One set of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP
One set of Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro
One additional front of each type.
All sizes to fit SV650 - 120/60 front and 160/60 rear.
All part worn racing in Minitwins, with plenty of tread and life left. Great for track days and sunny summer riding.
£30 each, £50 pair.
Hi, do you have any of the wiring looms left, I am after the male and female plug connectors that link to the gear selector, these are the two plugs that you split when doing the TRE mod.
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave,
Sorry, the wiring loom is complete and I think it has more value like that. I've heard the TRE mod makes little difference.... how have you found it?

PMs sent.
Hi
I've just received my rear subframe from Juggler in top notch condition.
Very prompt delivery!
Very fair deal! Great guy Juggler.
Now see why I needed another...
Not the result of a wheelie gone wrong or anything that exotic.
This is what happens when you fit the SW-Motech pannier and rack system to an all alloy rear subframe, then proceed to grossly overload it!
The helmet lugs have snapped clean off and the grab rail cross brace has cracked badly.
I have modified the original to use the cast lugs on the subframe and braced the cross bar with alloy and steel plates, so far so good.
At least now I have a good replacement if it all goes horribly wrong.

Er, I guess so. Only found the tool box for the first time when I stripped the bike :) There's a complete set of tail unit plastics, seat etc minus the subframe. I'll check on Saturday and get you a picture etc. I'm sure it's all there.
PM me an offer - I've no idea where to start.

Dunno. Will enquire about postage. Oil radiator was on the K5 engine when I put it in my other bike. There is one on the knackered K3 engine it replaced. I assume they are the same....?
Will let you know price by PM on Monday after calling couriers/post office.

Hi, Sorry - levers have gone. But the bar weights are there (although one is looking a little bit sorry for itself).
Hello there.
Have you still got the regulator and so how much?
Thanks.

just to carry as a spare (been on 2 rideouts where someone has lost one)
hopefully never need it but if the price is right;)
If Kilted Ginger doesn't have thebar ends i need 1 with all the gubbings that goes in the bars.
Ignore my REgulator ask. The quest is over.

Hi Robert,
Sorry rear brake lever has gone. I have the full standard exhaust still available - was going to try to get rid of it all in one go though. There is a little bit of damage to the silencer, and some around the front joint (it was difficult to separate). If you want to make an offer for the full system...?
