Well I took my car in to the garage today to have the brake disc and pads replaced all round at a cost of £233 .... ouch and when I pick it up I gotta go get 2 new tyres fitted which will cost £100.

Next week I am going to bite the bullet and get Zuky MOT'd at the nice small cost of about £20, but then with that comes the insurance and tax, £200ish

House insurance renewal came through today at a cost of £449 but I logged online and got the same quote for the same company for £221 so with a phone call save £220 \\:D/. So I paid that off.

Forgot the council tax of £90 so paid that before they take me to court.

Looked at my digi camera which I broke at Oulton Park with the aid of Kwaks bum..... don't ask ..... needs a new one ay a cost of £80.

So I figured while waiting for the garage to call about my car I would go and sit out in the sun, so I lay down on the grass, took my new watch off as it got a thick leather strap and I didnt want a big white mark if I caught the sun and fell asleep. Nice 8-). I woke up with a small slopping nose and chewing, I looked at my lovely adorable doggy lying next to his mummy ...... chewin her NEW watch, leather strap all in pieces and Samson looking very happy basking in the sun  new watch £80 :(

Saved £200 on insurance today but still not worked out the moral of the story !

Ouch, brakes and pads are a nice little money earner for garages sometimes...got told once to replace my front discs and pads on my Focus, I think they wanted something like £150-£200+.

Bought some pattern parts for about £30 all in I think! Discs/pads are so easy to fit it's definitely worthwhile trying it yourself. Very few tools needed normally.

I wish I had the know how and I would have a go. I have no-one that can do them for me, my brother is loaded and says "take it to a garage" and my Dad ain't in the country no more, no fella!

Garange have done it, I thought £233 was not bad. I also asked them to take a look at a knocking noise coming from my suspension, which they have. To my sursprise they said its nothing and if not maybe a little wear on the suspension bearing but it'll have to be stripped doewn which is a job and a half. They told me to leave until noise gets worse and then take it in. They could have ripped me off so maybe my day is looking brighter !!

The daughters car got, you need new discs and pads at the first service after she had bought it. Strange says I, we got the history with the car and it, and your last invoice included discs and pads.

Well sir, they still need doing. So under your warranty?. I will check with the service manager. Yes sir, we will do them under warranty as they should have lasted more than 3000 miles.

Saved £240 for her with that. But I also priced up discs and pads, Their labour to do the job would have been £180 for a job I could have done in less than 2 hours.

BTW, I use eBikes sister company ehouseinsurance and renewed yesterday, £153 for a 3 bed semi with £50,000 contents

I never quite got that kind of attitude lol - I am not too badly off (work for an investment bank) but I still watch the pennies - hurts to see them "wasted"

I'm sure there's people on the forum in your area that could help, but if not organise an 'org visit' and we'll sort it all out ;) definitely stuff like discs and pads, anyway.

Btw one of the best things for learning yourself is a Haynes - although, I would say treat it as a book of tips rather than a set guide, if something in there looks strange and/or unnecessary, think about not doing that step.

Why not just get a new strap on your watch, it won't cost 80 quid.

Or just use your mobile phone and never use a watch again...

LOL the watch is one of these surfy type and the strap is a little funky, would only be able to get from shop I bought it from and they don't do just the straps. Good thinking tho !!

Got my car back with brakes, they defo needed doing. I had a few people look at them and one person wouldnt let me drive the car in it's present state, they were bad. The discs were pitted but the car had been sitting for a period of 8 months out of 12 and looked very rusty. and minging.

All done anyway :)

I don't like putting people out, I know you org'ers are wonderful but I would feel VERY cheeky asking a fellow orger to mend my motor ... now bikes are a different thing ;)

Thanks all xxx Oh an muffles, mmmm no sun dial dont fit in my pocket, I know my ass is big LOL but not that big ! x

Lol...I meant a mini pocket sun-dial of course...I'm sure you don't have a big ass at all! Anyway really the offer's there...depends on the exact day/job of course ;) but in principle....rather not see someone spend loads for no reason...especially when they are trying to save lol.

As punishment, I suggest you don't feed the dog until he has paid his way ... as I assume he is unemployed, you can simply take the money saved by not feeding him as payment ... bearing in mind the price of dog food ... I feel he is going to be going hungry for some time!! ... but It'll learn him ... he'll deffo never do it again!! 8)

I like the jewellers who you ask:

"Can you fit a new battery to this 250m waterproof watch?"

and they say:

"Yes, we can. It'll take about 10 days. We'll have to send it away you see, but it can't be guaranteed to be waterproof afterwards."

....Yeah. Thanks for that.

Its been a week since I scrapped my car. Thank the big man above for the bike. Don't talk to me about expensive cars.

Blue - I have politely asked but I am asking again.... STOP !!!! I am not amused and I am not joking on this one.

Me and Daz's friendship is already strained due to small minded gossipers who cannot understand the word "Plantonic" and don't know me well enough.

No worries mate, I did mean that I may look at him his he turned into "Ducati man" but I think all that started on another thread. But I wouldn' t even if he was Ducati man cause Daz is such a good mate he is more like my big brother and I don't do incest. :D
