View Full Version : Lowered seat for my SV
I've got an SV650 K6 (2007) and would like to purchase a lowered seat.
Does anyone know if the earlier models have seats that will fit mine? I've seen a K3 seat on ebay and was wondering if it might work...?
The other option is to get it cut down, I know someone who can do that but would really like to keep the original also.
Any advice?
if you are in the uk, try your suzuki stealership... i just orderd one for my new k8.. it was £34 for it inc vat.. well i hope he said 34.. and not 134.. na he defo said 34..
i will know on thursday when i go to pick up the bike..
btw that was the price for a genuine suzuki part. if your intrested try cupar motorcycles in scotland.. give them a phone and see what price you get .. could be i'm getting a special rate as i have baught a new sv650 from them.

K3 seats dont fir thr 04 onwards models so the 03 one you seen wont suit you.the k3 bikes had a different sub-frame/higher sub-frame so the k3 seat is thiner and plus has different mount points 2 the other.

Rather than buying a new seat, why not have your existing seat lowered?
I did that with my '99 curvy seat. Lowered it by about 2-3 inches & it makes a big difference.
This is the place that did mine & they did a great job.

Does 10mm lowering on the lower standard seats make much of a difference?

How much did you pay?
Any most importantly, is it still comfortable?
£32 thats why.. take of the old one .. bolt on the new one..
easy peasy... saves a lot of fafing about ..
and you can swap the old one back over when you sell the bike..
how much did it cost to get your seat alterd by bootlegbikeseats?
probebly not much diference in price.
By all accounts it depends on how much you need to lower it by, as the difference isn't much.
I'm about 5'3" and my lowered seat (happily found through another org member - thank you!)made possible going backwards on flat surfaces (I was on tippy-toes) but I still can't really get good footing on uneven surfaces so get off and walk it around looking rather foolish, but without scratches!
Just an observation to save you wasting money if you want to lower more than an inch.

Hi horris, the 2-3" lowering does not affect the comfort as far as I can tell. If you check out my profile photo, you can see that the front of the seat is not lowered, so I am actually sat in the seat rather than on top of it.
When I bought the bike from Wyder in Preston, they had it done for me before I picked the bike up. If I recall correctly it was about 30 quid.
Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for your advice!
Will be getting a new seat if I can, seems it costs about the same to buy new as it does to get one cut down.
:D lol I can relate to staffz, I can't go backwards at the mo! My legs are dead straight and I'm on tiptoes, just can't get any purchase! I've been riding it as it is and can mostly manage okay but don't like going out on my own in case I get stuck! lol.

I am 5' 1" & with the seat scooped out I can generally get myself backwards on flat. Uphill, even a slight incline upwards is still very difficult.
Has anyone actually got one of these £34 seats yet?
They only claim 10mm lower so I'm really sure if its worth it for what sounds like such a small reduction.

Got mine yesterday...it's awesome :-)
Makes the difference between ball of foot and flat foot for me, and a lot easier to manoeuver. Can't tell you about long distance comfort yet, but it feels no less comortable that the higher original.
The Suzuki website says £32 incl vat, which is what I paid through P&H Suzuki dealers in Crawley, so not sure why you have been quoted £34. Still, it's only a couple of quid!

Got one, 10mm not alot in my opinion. I was on tip toes and now just on ball of feet !!
Daytona ladystar and lowered seat and I am still on balls of feet = Shell Short ar$e
Worth the money tho as to carve your original seat out would cost more than £34 and you would not have the original seat when you come to sell. There is plenty of scope to get more carved out too.

Sorry for delay...had to find a tape measure ;)
So, with bare feet inside leg is 30.5"
with my boots on (Alpinestars SMX3) it is 31 1/4"
Hope that is of some help!
The new cut down seat feels narrower to me as well. I don't think I need any more scooping or cutting, but I wanted to keep the original seat intact and thought the £32 was quite reasonable really:D
So, in the end I too got the £32 lowered seat (apparently it's actually for a K5, but it fits the K6 just fine)
..... and then I got it further cut down!! £32 is so cheap for a new seat, if you just buy a standard replacement it costs over £100. So in total I spent £52 (just £20 to get the foam cut down!!)
Much much better. Am happy to ride out on my own now (and still have the original for when I sell the bike). Yeay!!!! very happy!
And it's comfy too! (although that's prolly down my own natural padding...lol)
Thanks. I've got 29" inside leg so hopefully it will help.
I ordered one today, ?30 down here!
yup .. £32 not £34 i was wrong. got one fitted to my new K8 (free fitting) but still on tippytoes.
got some 40mm lowering links from fleebay then went down the workshop and made a pair out of stainless steel coz the ones i got looked like they would rust in weeks.
when i get my bike i'll see how much lower it makes it and report back.
I got the seat. Really pleased with it.
10mm doesn't sound much but it does make a big difference.
Not only is it better for when you're feet are down, but I think it makes it more comfortable when riding as you're less lent forward.
Its definately a bit harder, but still seems comfortable enough.
Anyone who says they've trimmed 2" off their standard seat must be literally sat on plastic!
Overall a great buy.
