OK guys and gals my sv1000s is up for sale, shes a 53plate with about 5.5k on the clock, as most of you know i had an accident on her last September which gave her a cat C status :( the insurance deemed her an uneconomical repair but i repaired her for about £500, Ive more or less decided on a gsxr or fireblade now so she's gotta go to create some deposit for the new bike.
the sv has a new back tyre, ccc stainless steel oval cans, tail tidy, crash bungs, fenda extenda and belly pan as some of the extras, she is 100% reliable and a good sound bike.

PM me if u need more details or add questions to this thread so everyone can read the answers.

i'm 5 minuets off junction 11 of the M6, this bike goes like a train and is a very clean example, people who know me know how i keep my bikes :) price errr id like close to £2000 for her but am prepared to haggle, this is a great bike for this kind of money.

Whats the deal with it being cat C now? did it have to be inspected before you could put it back on the road? What was the damage exactly, and what was involved in the repair?

bikes don't have to be checked but cars do, an mot is all that is required for a motorcycle. the vehicle looses value because of its cat c status but can be cracking 2nd hand buys (alot of bike for little money) good thing about this one is i and most ppl on here know all bout its history and the repair, if you search threads you'll find mine telling you all about it.

I was just curious more than anything about what the deal with insurance written off bikes is. To be fair it looks as though you've done a spot on job of repairing the bike ;) and I know you guys wouldn't hide anything, or be unthruthful about any previous damage to a bike. I've not been on here long, but I can tell you are all top guys

I've only just passed my DAS, so a thou probably wouldn't be a good bike for me! I'm also in the process of selling my car to raise funds for an SV - so I'm not quite ready to buy just yet until my car has gone. If my car sells I'd be really tempted by this bike, and if it was a 650 I'd probably bite your arm off for it :)

That is an unbelievably clean bike! Anyone wanna buy a 286bhp MR2 Turbo? If my car was sold already I don't think I'd be able to resist the temptation of this bike!

How on earth do you keep it so clean? I'm guessing a shed load of autosol as the guys mentioned in your other threads!

If it's anything like what happened to me when I did exactly the same swap then the process goes.....

1. Arrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh. Blimey that's a lot of power. Surely that speedo is in KPH I can't possibly be going that quick. What's that clonk each time I change gear (that'll be the front wheel landing). How come I need to fill it up with petrol again already.

2. WooooHoooo. Got used to actually using the power and occasionally get it to under three figures. And get more than 50 miles to a tank. Learn a little restraint on the right grip.

3. Booo. Does not go around corners as well as my old trusty 650. I really miss my 650 perhpas I'll sell the 1000 and keep the 650

4. Deep joy. Learned to go round corners on the new bike. Blimey it's so much more planted than the 650. For sale 1x650.

5. I wish it was curvy and had better under seat storage but hey it goes like a train and I love it.

Well that was my experience. Be interested to see how you get on too.
Hastings direct for some reason seem to be about half the insurance for the thou than most others with all other attributes (age, location etc) being the same.

Enjoy....
