Hi,
I've just bought a new SV650 Sport K8 two weeks ago, the black one with the red seat. Love it so far, but can't wait for its first service. I got an idea of how much fun I'll be having soon when I took the test ride :D . The sun was shining today, but I don't want to do too many more miles, still more than a week to wait on my service appointment ](*,)
I've been riding for 10 years and have just sold my CB500S to get the SV.
This site has already helped me find some info, so thought I'd better register now.

Hi and welcome, G!
Welcome onboard.
Remember if its the same dealer you purchased from the first service is FREE.

Yes, its from the same dealer and its free, but the quickest they could do was three weeks from when I tried to book. To get it when I wanted it done, I'd have to have booked the service before buying the bike!

Hi there :D
I had my first service at a different dealer it only cost me £60 so might be wort a ring around. They will want to look after you as they will want you to keep coming back.

Hello!
I ran my K3 in during a heatwave (55 mph on the M25 in 80 degrees is no fun!), but then took it to the alps and had a whale of a time. Enjoy!

I'm sure it is, but I'd rather have someone that knows what they're doing checking over the bike for free. ;)

Haven't taken many yet, here's one though, excuse the cluttered background:

Thanks for the welcomes.

The first service comprises more than just an oil change. There's also the bolt check, chain tension, supposed addition of grease etc etc.
Much easier to get a dealership to do it (then re-do it yourself when you're home :D ).
Welcome to the .Org newbie. Remember not to step on the grass, or the resident Bear will hunt you down - and that's a punishment that non of us would risk!
Never have liked the red seat on a black bike... but that's just me.
