I am projecting the image of the pub in my head now, but I'm not sure if it worked... so I'll send him a text.

It will be my first time at this one.

Not for me I'm afraid. Any chance of a meet in our neck of the woods? I liked the Ely.

Tara

I can make the Ely no problem. At the moment I just can't justify the petrol mney getting to and from Guildford. So, ely next week. Woo, see you there! :p

Grinch

I won't be on that one next week as I'm on call that week, so a 40 trip is a bit out for me.

Hence my problem with Guildford, 40 mile round trip. Living inbetween GM and TVSF is a pain in the ****!

Yay!

I did the Fleet bends yesterday. It was kneedown-tastic. Also went for a jaunt along the 339 to basingstoke. On my way back got overtaken by soem R1 weekend warriors. I kept up at first but when they started taking blind bends at nearly a tonne I let them go. I like breathing see. I must be getting old. :-$

The FAB Few. (Fleet and Blackwater) We can meet at the Ely or Oatsheaf alternating to reduce unnecessary travel across our megre empire. We can poke fun at the TVAM and GM folks who will read all our stuff anyway.

And which bit do you call the Fleet bends? Minley Hill with all the down-hill adverse camber gravelly bends? In which case you are truly hard-core sir.

Umm, maybe not. Go from Minley Road roundabout upto the roundabout at Elvetham Heath then rinse and repeat in reverse. Also once I got into Basingtoke on my other ride I turned right where we went for that ride (towards Upton Grey), lots of gravelly, single track roads with bumps and jumps but was fun. Why is there is always huge piles of gravel but only on the corners??? Grrr!

i'd be up for the Ely or the oatsheaf once in a while as i agree with Dan the petrol to guildford every week could be used somewhere else.

so the Ely next week then

I got wet and saw rather a lot of lightning, so made the journey back in my vented jacket interesting and a tad damp.

Tara
29-07-08, 05:37 AM
it had already stopped raining here so we missed the storm

thedonal
29-07-08, 07:20 AM
That was spectacular! What a ride home. So then- definitely lightning and not the trains!! :D

Quite scary on the A246 with oncoming traffic and wet roads- couldn't see a thing. But that was part of the fun.

I was in my element and happily singing Riders on the Storm to myself! The gear's still drying- had a very damp and clammy ride in to work today...!

Grinch
29-07-08, 07:40 AM
I rode to work this morning in slight damp gear, though it did make the ride a touch cooler.

thedonal

Yeah- I might think of taking HG to task on mine- Gore Tex is sposed to not let anything through, isn't it?

Though it did keep me mostly dry through last night's monsoon and I doubt anything's totally waterproof in that kind of assault.

And the popper's ripped off the collar for the second time- only had this jacket (the 2nd) for 2 months and only bought the original at New Year. Cuh!
