hi all
when washing bikes, do you need to cover the brake discs/calipers to stop the bike cleaner/WD40 etc getting to the discs and harming the brake pads?
If they do get contaminated, would some brake cleaner be all that's needed or would more have to be done?
Cheers everyone :D

Just wash them. Normal avoid putting any lubricating cleaner on! :D

Heh heh yeah! It's just that knowing my luck/skill etc I'll end up with a WD40'd rag getting into contact with the discs as I'm wiping the crap off the wheels...:smt099

well no need to worry about a small amount... just remember to work the brakes to clean/wear anything off before you depend on them to stop you.
Just have a can of brake cleaner handy for such mishaps.
Always spray the WD onto the a rag and not the wheel.

the engine, forks, chain, wheels, swingarm, its a great cleaner.
Indeed it is, also after you've washed the bike, give the fairing a wipe with a soaked rag.
But I remember something about that you shouldn't use it on the chain because it damages the O-rings...

WD40 is fine on disks i been cleaning in by the spindle enough times and some on the disk....
it stops your brakes working for about 3 seconds then they work again!

Ive heard that too. For fairing use polish then I take it... I usually just clean it with soapy water. :)
