View Full Version : Notice period
Does anyone know the offical line on notice?
If you are under a month of your job, and the contract states 1 month, do you have to give one month, or is it a week? The probation period is 9 months if this changes anything?
Hope this makes sense?
Does it state in the contract that there is a different notice period for the probation period, if not my understanding is that the full notice has to be worked.
My contract for example says:
One month in writing by either side, one week in writing by either side during the probationary period.
But if it is that little into the job they may not inforce the notice?!

Generally, within 3 months it's 1 week, 1 month after.
However, you can say "I quit", and go home, you just don't get paid....

Agreed - most unusual for anyone to do anything about it.
The ammount of time you are paid overr, so if you are paid monthly you have to give a month, weekly a week etc.

Every job i've ever had its been 1 week throughout the probation, after that then 1 month
Hmmm, mixed responses. Anyway, she handed in her notice and they are making her stay the full month. I think the 'I quit' may have to come into it.
Her new job are cool if she has to stay the month but she isnt, she wants out!!
