Normally I don't post pics/videos of wrecks cos I don't like looking at others getting hurt /killed but in this one the rider gets up and walks away. It's fairly spectacular.

Learning point - if you ride an R6 you need a large fire extinguisher. Of the right type too;)

Oops, theres no reason for powder not to have put that fire out within seconds.......cant understand that at all.

Because they were using CO2? Powder and / or foam would have sorted that out.

Some eejit used a water extinguisher - it simply spread burning oil and fuel across the track. It's a brilliant illustration of what not to do.

This happened earier this year at a ride day at Broadford race circuit in Victoria, my closest track.

The extinguishers were powder, no water was used at all. The problem came from the magnesium alloy in the cases catching fire and then it started to melt the surface of the track it was that hot. With a nearly full tank of fuel, the fuel just kept coming out of the hole in the tank and igniting on the existing fire.

The surface was reparied and thankfully it was off the racing line. They are looking at getting a pumper setup with foam for the track to prevent a repeat.

I'm amazed he highsided there. Bike looked pretty settled

Settled to unsettled is a mere flick of the right wrist as demonstrated there.

He didnt look to be going fast enough or cranked over enough to highside like that lol could there have been something on the track.

Don't need to be going very fast/massively cranked over......I should know :D

Looked to me like the bike was on a slide coming out the corner. I don't know enough about this sort of thing to comment:smt102
