Here is the finished product of waiting for 10 years for a hip replacement. Originally the accident happened when i was t-boned at a cross road, I had right of way but the driver in the vauxhall omega didn't agree at the time. this isn't ment to dissuade you lot for riding bikes, it just what can happen dispite taking all protective precautions. Ride safe, other people don't drive safe. [-o<

The pain he has now is nothing compared to what hes put up with for all these years Chris. Think it was a matter of throwing him back together and hoping for the best, when he had his accident. This time it was to give him his life back, after all, walking with one leg shorter, being so young and being crippled with pain, kinda gave em opportunity to do a proper job. Apparently the old hip had worn so bad it was a really odd shape
Although, the wonky hipdom, never ever once stopped him riding, even after all the bumps since the big off! AND he can't wait til he gets back on either.....keeps prodding me to clean the Raptor for when he does!

Hope you`re recovering well, most people i`ve met who`ve had hip replacements always really happy that they`ve had it done. They say the most noticeable thing is that the previous pain that they`ve had for years disappears. Best of luck

Ouch ... GWS mate. It will be worth it at the end!
Stitches are a bit crooked dont you think - either the doc was drunk or they had a hard time getting things in and out of there.
GWS :)
That's gonna be a cool scar
See you tomorrow.
I think you need some pressure area care.:D;)

Cool;)
It is the best operation you will ever have. I was born with a damaged hip and it took 40 years before they got round to replacing it all.
I miss the morphine but not the pain:D
Did it hurt when they pulled the drains out?
dizzyblonde

He didn't have any drains in, which surprised me as well as a few others. including my mum (ex nurse), and our mate who had a bike off last year, who pretty much went through the same as Matt in his accident 10 yrs ago. Matt was only in the hospital 2 days. The morphine drip was only in a day.....he still says it was a conspiracy when they took it away, he went for an xray and the pump conveniently wouldn't work!!
Nobody should have to go through all that pain:(
I'm delighted for you that you're getting your life back:p
Get well soon.
Have they given you any target dates :?: You know, the boring stuff like when you'll be able to walk again and important stuff like when you can ride again :?:

Hi there Ape, the first target date is the 6 week check where i'm sent off for more x-rays and more advanced physio. Walkin' is slow and steady at the moment because of the need for the bone to heal well and to avoid dislocation of the hip joint. Haven't been out for any wild nights out yet due to the cruel mrs keeping me under lock and key, same with the bike. As for riding the bike that will probably start happening again in about 2 months when everything starts healing up nicely, the only problem with the Raptor is the fact that my hip is bent at more than 90 degrees to my torso so one of the SRX'S might be employed foor transport. Here's hopin' :smt119
Well, here's hoping the recovery goes unhindered for you. If your anything like me, you'll be riding before your meant to.
When I had my clavicle plated and pinned, I turned up at my first otho appointment on the bike. That was a week later. hehe.
If you need someone to keep the wheels of the Raptor moving, look no further.
Very appropriate reading material title. It certainly is for a time to come..!
Looks a bit like my scar only twice as long

oi, shes mine first;) just needs a nice person to help change the shock, and put a new tyre on the rear and she'd be out of my shed quicker than Matt could move.................well ok then maybe not:rolleyes:
