I understand there is some sort of sports day going on in China shortly. I only know this as apparently the country is nearly at fever pitch with excitement, or so some news presenters keep telling me. But of late another sign has appeared...

In between those pesky television programs that I have to suffer to get to the adverts some of these mini dramas end with a tag line of the Official xxx of the Olympic Games. One in particular sticks in my mind, that of a mobile phone. Apparently this phone is the "Official Mobile Phone Of The Olympic Games".

But what on earth does that mean?

It means that the samsung tocco will free tibet, win golds in every event, including swimming somehow, not that its possible for a phone to run the 100, and will even take calls.

Years later, it will fail a drug test and bring shame on samsung, ending the company's dominance in sporting events.

It means that Samsung is a major sponsor of the games, much like all theother sponsors. Thsi means that they can they legally use one of thier products. What also happens is that they provide 100's if not 1000's of phones for the organisers/staff/atheletes etc, therefore it becomes the offical phone of the games.
