Sooo...was on my way to spending the night camping in the Langdales, heading up the M6 minding my own business. Doing probably 85 in the fast-lane because the traffic was generally quite light, but everyone was sitting in the middle-lane. Noticed some guy in a silver car in the middle lane looking like he was fussing around with a mobile phone, was quite annoyed at this so put on a short blast of speed to get past him, probably never went above 95.

Once past, I slowed back down, didn't think much more of it...until I glanced in my mirror about 30 seconds later to see the silver car there, now with flashing headlights and a lovely blue spinny light on the roof. Bugger.

Swearing inside my helmet, I indicated and moved into the inside lane, waiting to be pulled over...at which point they zoomed off past me and nicked the guy who'd been in front of me when I pulled into the fast lane, who'd then started to disappear into the distance.

Had to stop at the next services and have a sit down after crapping myself to much...Don't think I went above 70 for the last 20 miles of motorway. Had a good laugh about it when I arrived, though.

nice

i had that.

112....

dead clear slip road down to watford a good couple of miles long... so i went for it... ish.

bus pulling out in the distance so sit up and roll off all in good time. think i will take a look in my mirrors... hmm silver car desperatley trying not to lock up and smash me up the bum. i get slightly incensed by this and take another look. BUGGER. those pretty lights werent there a minute ago...

the copper was incandescant - cos he had nearly knocked me off :D i got away with 90, 3 points £60. this was admittedly after going weak at the knees and his mate seeing my warrant card in my map holder....

Me to. I was riding along the M23 after a long weekend of visiting people and was pretty much sticking to 70/80mph as I was knackered. Came up behind a car doing 65 (grrrr!) so pulled out to overtake and just kept on rolling on to about 120mph:-ddand see blue lights in my mirrors. Pull over into the middle lane and they fly past - They were really going for it if they were catching me at 120. Crept home out about 5mph under the speed limit after that!

I thought I'd been done a while back. Not going to say how fast but was very nearly flat out. Looked in my mirror to find a police car about 5ft behind me. I just thought tht's it, and put my indicator on. Soon as I could I moved over, and they just flew passed me.
obviously they had something more urgent to attend to.

2 stories.

One a long time ago i was pressing on in the car (cant remember the road) and next thing blue lights in the mirror. Pull over and a fire car went past! Heart went bump de bump i can tell ya.

2nd, hooning up onto the M25 one night from a bike meet throttle pinned clearish motorway out into the outside lane only to come hooning up to the back of a police car with his blues and twos on. I was going to flash him to get out of the way, but at over 100mph, i thought better of it

Maybe they can't be bothered to do all the paperwork so they know that if they tear past you it scares you into going slow for the rest of the journey!

Just got someone nicked by an unmarked copper, does that count?
Oh they were well p1ssed and probably had no insurance either.....

I bated someone into nearly getting nicked by a police car the other week. I got them to undertake me on a section of dual cabbageway (by driving at the speed limit in a section of roadworks - having admittdly subtly boxed them in to stop their weaving through the traffic) they then pulled back in front of me to go on their merry way. The (marked) police car whipped in behind them with it's twinklies going. Sadly they just pulled alongside after the driver and I think did some hand waving. I say sadly as I think this one would have been a good candidate for no MOT\insurance etc too.

I had a weird one.

Marked car, uniformed officers.

I was doing about 85-90, catch them up, do the decent thing and sit behined them, they are doing 80mph. Sods law, this was on mile 2 of a 14 mile motorway trip

5 miles later, still sitting behined them, now at 85mph again, a car comes past me. Then another, so sod it, im going, so i go past, just creeping past them. They are STILL sitting in the middle lane, no traffic to their left.

I go past, sit at 90 (my usual cruising speed). 5 minutes later, it goes into a 50mph zone all the way to the city.. I slow to about 75-80 (haters shaaat it, SE londoners will know the A2, 3 lanes wide). Roll off for the speed camera (at 60), who comes past me, PC plod. I'd slowed slightly, they had carried on, just never lifted off.

Sod it, if they can do it, i can, so I sat behined them until i needed to turn off.

I've had a few other stories though of being flashed, only to find they've gone shooting past to catch someone in front. Even better when they've pulled over and you can go past smiling away

ha ha, i've had that. Coming home theres a right/left, brow of hill, small striaght, then looong sweeping left hander over the A2. Its a bit of road i like to "open up" every single day on my way home.

SO i come flying over this brow, only to find a police bike in front of me, BRAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE hard!!!! Slow down, sit behined him.

I smiled though as he pulled over some dappy bint in a 4x4 swerving accross the road. She turned left down a road so fast and violently, that the bike cop nearly missed the junction, and had to kind come back on himself from the other side of the road.

I laughed as i crusied passed, but for that moment I come over the brow and see this police bike, the heart did flutter somewhat

i did the same last year going to land's end on the A30

ended up following a marked traffic car at ~85mph for ages, was great, all the dozy outside lane drivers pulled in and slowed to 70, we just cruised past:D

then he put the lights on and shot off well above the limit, i considered following him but thought better of it...

Done that on the M62 ... was filtering, making erm fair progress. Passed a traffic car who then put lights on and started getting people out of the way, I pull in thinking "foooook" ... he charges past so I followed. He wasnt making good progress, but in hindsight passing him and buggering off probably wasn't a wise move.

I have been pulled for speeding on my bike too...

Only it was my Mountain bike...
Slapped legs and told not to be such a loon by a very nice Copper with cute eyes... Guess I was lucky not to get a fine.

Lets face it folks, we know the laws and we know the consequences of speeding, but we still do it don't we?

Shame that over the tonne is illegal though, because when my SV is cruising, hitting about between 7-8 000 rpm, I get this rather special vibration which goes right up inside me and you know what? If I die on the bike at that moment, they will have to jackhammer that grin off my face!

A word of advice, if you see a car behind you that you think could possibly be an unmarked car, just because you can't see it anymore when you start filtering doesn't mean it's not there anymore  sorry, cheque's in the post today.
