Are we (my club) that bad, today I discovered one of the 3 sets of mens bogs behind the home goal has been converted into a muslim prayer room.
Apparently 5 requests for the prayer room were made last year and 4 of them being when we played man united. OK we were beat, but I don't think a couple of guys bowing at mecca is going to improve our game that day.
Now if I have one too many pints at half time. where do I go to drain the excess. The bogs. No it is now for muslim prayers, I will have to take my shoes off to go there now. Bet the carpet will be wet after a heavy session and reduced bog capacity.
Sorry if I offend anyone. But I ask you, if I want to pray to a god, I would go to a church, expect muslims to go to a mosque, jews to a synagogue, hindus etc. to a temple. I go to a football ground to worship the glorious game. Not to pray.

If they're going to go to the trouble of a prayer room, then they should charge muslims extra for tickets. :-P

Hmmmm,behind the home goal?
If you think you can get round the new offside rule by claiming some sort of religeous PC rights you can think again. And there will be none of that wailing at half time either.

You must have heard of Islamic Phrophets! ;)

Why?
It wasn't a serious comment at all.
On a more serious note, why should anybody demand a private organistion accomodate their religious beliefs? Nobodies forced to go to football.

How did they get the permission to have a prayer room in such an unclean place in the first place

The law about places of worship have changed recently to allow any organisation to create multi-faith rooms rather than specific prayer rooms to accommodate several religions. Some organisations are using this as leverage to entice more ethnic members.

You should go over to Cricket - it is a religion in it's own right!!!

Religion out of public life you mean.
I dont care who or what you want to attribute the creation of everything to, or who you want to worship
Well until it impacts on me that is.
Its your business keep it that way.

Dave where is your sense of community spirit?
Its doing just fine :)
Its just that some religions seem to encourage division, both "eastern" and "western" religions.
Most seem to say "If you dont belong to ours, then you are second class".
So Religion is as much a divider as something that brings people together.

Did you know women in some Islamic countries aren't allowed to buy cucumbers....because of the shape of them. Mentals!
If we cant have prayer rooms at football clubs because of religion, maybe we should ban all these south americans who do the sign of the cross everytime they run on the pitch.

Al-Qa'eda has lost credibility for imposing a series of rules imposing their way of thought on the most mundane aspects of everyday life.
They include a ban on women buying suggestively-shaped vegetables.
Sheikh Hameed al-Hayyes, a Sunni elder, told Reuters: "They even killed female goats because their private parts were not covered and their tails were pointed upward, which they said was haram.
"They regarded the cucumber as male and tomato as female. Women were not allowed to buy cucumbers, only men."
Other farcical stipulations include an edict not to buy or sell ice-cream, because it did not exist in the time of the Prophet, while hair salons and shops selling cosmetics have also been bombed.
Most seriously, Sheikh al-Hayyes said: "I saw them slaughter a nine-year old boy like a sheep because his family didn't pledge allegiance to them."
Did someone just sell these guys £20billion of fighter planes?

The guys who make the rules don't need to obey them.... reminds me of a certain group of MPs. ;)

More seriously, I think that you will also find that in some countries women are not allowed health care if it is provided by male Doctors, which causes problems when there is a shortage of female gynaecologists.

Lets not go muslim ( Islam) bashing on this topic please, as for the above I think every doctor in their right mind has the opportunity to refuse to treat drunk and aggressive individuals male/female. And guess what they don't have to be a muslim! I have many friends in the medical professions who have refused treatment to people due to their aggressive or even racist remarks towards asian and non-asian doctors.

Ohh but its such an EASY target :)
But you are right - although all that I think has happened is the anecdotes have just come out of the woodwork - if someone had mentioned Jewish I think it would have been the same.
Certainly my comment about the planes was just something that popped into my head and had no real thought or intent beyond to make people smile behind it.
As said I dont care who or what people "worship", just as long as it doesnt affect me or cost me money.....

It's not muslim bashing. We ARE allowed to use that word in a sentence without being accused of being racist/islamophobic/whatever tripe you like.

You can be drunk and a perfectly good patient.
Refusing to treat someone who is aggressive is fine and as you say, perfectly normal, it's if people have a religious (yeah, boll0cks) reason not to treat someone who is intoxicated that's the problem. Whether anyone actually acts on that is something I don't know.

back on topic. I have been told that this is not a muslim prayer room, but a multi faith prayer room. Although the room contains no bibles and supposedly 7 copies of the quran, and removal of shoes is compulsory
So make your own interpretation of its purpose.
