hi guys n gals

i have recently bought a 2000 model sv650s, after doing 20,000 miles on 125s i thought it was time for a big boys toy, however i am only 19 therefore did the 125 test. Now i have found out that F1 international have got a serious strong hold on the 33bhp restrictor kit marker tied nicely up and rip off young people like me! :smt094

Now my insurance company dont want the certificates, or the kit fitted by a professional. All they care about is the fact that its there if (god forbid:() crash the bike. So why should i spend £180 on two washers. So i am asking for anyones help advice or anything - or even better if anyone has any of these two washers they are willing to sll me i would be very grateful.

Many thanks, matt

keep checking the 'for sale' section on this and other forums. they do come up from time to time as people upgrade licences or the two year requirement expires. also worth putting a request in the 'wanted' section for a suitable restrictor kit. somebody might have one lying around that they dont need any more.

Good luck & welcome to the forum.

PM melody, I removed her restrictor kit the other day and she may sell it to you.

How long since you did your test? The restriction lasts for two years, even if you are still under 21 when the time is up,so you may be better off waiting.Check that your current insurance is transferable to the sv on the current policy or you may end up losing a years worth of no claims.Thats very important at your age cost wise. And be a bit careful with the certificate thing.Insurance companies can be a bit funny if it comes to paying out whatever they say before.

Thinking about it, if anyone with the washers handy would measure them up, I think it would save a lot of people a lot of money in the future, knowing they could go to any old hardware store and get the washers for 2p.
