Looking to get a 32" telly for the bedroom, will be for dvd and cable reproduction (not HD) and I've got it down to a shortlist of 13 so thought I'd see what the mighty org recommend.
So here we go:

My heads real fuzzy at the mo (facts and figures don't seem to make sense) but the products from eBuyer all seem very similar, are they?

Like I said my brains frazzled (taking so many tablets at the mo, they're almost a meal in themselves!) so can't figure technical stuff out!!

Try setting up a simple spreadsheet with sizes, specs, number of connections, price, etc, and start from there. Not hard to do, and might help simplify stuff a lot.
Go for the one with the highest contrast ratio.

Hmmmmm, contrast ratio effects the quality of the picture quite alot, some of the examples are as low as 800:1, whilst the 4th is 15,000:1, so I'd be looking at that.
My Sharp is 10,000:1 and I'm more than happy with the picture quality.
Cheers Mark.

Head not with it so this would be far too difficult for my drugged up mind to comprehend!

Good point!

Nope (http://uk.lge.com/products/model/detail/lcdtv_32lg3000.jhtml)
LG are one of the main players in the screen thing.

:smt103 I thought the purpose of a bedroom was for reproduction / Sleeping. Not for watching telly.

oh go on then..
Candela , cd/m^2, is the unit of luminance emitted by unit surface. It is a unit of emission of visible light.
Visible light can also be expressed in terms of energy. For example, if the light energy is used for direct conversion to electrical energy, then 1 candella of light intensity is equal to 1 watt per steradian. Steradian is unit solid angle of emission. Candela is also lumen per steradian where lumen is the flux of light.
Light is one of the rare phenomena wher one uses two types of units, energy and visibility.
hope this helped.

Nope, but at least you tried!!
Does this have any relation to the contrast ratio?
You should base your choice on what best suits what you'll be connecting to it Phil.
If you're going to hook up a xbox360 to it you'll want something with a good refresh rate and contrast ratio but wont need more than 720p. If a PS3 and you'll watch bluray then a 1080p display will be a must. How will your satellite tv connect? HDMI, component etc....

Will be connected to my cable via a signal sender/reciever and via a dvd player by scart probably!
Do what fillie pie says. List it out and play top trumps with the list. Whatever has the best of everything then get that. its a mine field.
Sharp are one of the best pannels according to coombest (Its what he does for a living) so who am i to argue. I can get 20% of Sony and upto 40% of sharp if/when i get round to buying a new TV
Oh and if you can get/afford a 100Hz pannel then do so. Much better than a std LCD.
