passed my test a few weeks back, been loving the sv ever since - mainly using it to commute which was fun today in all the rain and on weekends for a bit of fun

girlfriend hates it and thinks i will kill myself

mods so far : R&G bungs, scottoiler, tail tidy, fenda extenda, hugger, zero gravity DB screen - will get a new can next march ish ready for summer and planning to do a few track days next summer

yep thats a really good colour.
Do yourself a favour and get the can as soon as possible - you won't regret it. I got a Fuel can and can recommend them.

AOL, I've not seen that colour before[1], I really like it.

[1] I've not looked at the SV's colours in a while.

Always ride at 75% of what you think is your 100% and you should be ok. Take it easy out there and well done on a stonking bike. Looks great in that colour, cries for a touch of red somewhere though. Good platform for greatness (why can't we leave bikes alone like cagers?).

+1 8)

A nice can and I reckon it is complete!! :) .. I only like subtle mods!! 8)

As a bit of tip - depending on how rapid you are likely to be - I'd recommended replacing the 020 tyres for something a bit more sporty before the trackday. You have plenty of time between now and when you expect to do one to wear them out on the road mind!! ;)

Very nice, very clean.
Any chance you could post a pic showing how you've mounted the oil delivery pipe of the scottoiler? Mines ready to go on but can't seem to get a decent mounting point for the pipe.

Cheers.

I second what Blue says but say get the tyres as soon as funds allow and keep those as spares.

Do like the colour.

Nice bike....just so happens to be the same as the one I've ordered!

Is the fender extender the little bits on the top side of the front mudguard?

No, it's the matte black part coming off the rear edge.

All of their SV screens:

Heard their screens are quite decent and fit well.

Or second hand:

thanks for the comments, the tyres seem ok so far but then i have not really pushed them that hard

screen was £58 delivered for the zerogravity new from calsport

www.calsport.co.uk (http://www.calsport.co.uk)

came in just under a week even when they told me they had none in stock and it would be 2 weeks min, took 5 mins to fit and anything i can fit anyone can fit as i am useless with mods

the scottoiler was fit by the garage as all the parts where fit very cheap as i got the bike and parts from them - they did not do the best of jobs - the oiler is mounted under the seat and the pipe runs down the inside but you can see it around the clutch and on the lower swingarm heading towards the chain (well i think its called ths swingarm)

the fenda extenda goes backwards over the front tyre to stop crap hitting the radiator etc, small black part - all the parts are from pryamid as odly the suzuki garage said it is cheaper and the same quality as the suzuki parts

That's nice, the colour is very cool. The exhaust needs attention. You've got the bike looking fantastic though:D

Countryside looks very flat where you are. Is it?

Bike looks lovely!! Just dont go daft and learn how to ride just passing your test doesnt mean you can ride fast. There are lots of techniques that you will need to master!! Try counter steering for one it makes turning your bike a lot easier. Sounds crazy but when you want to go left push lighlty on the left bar and push the right when going right it will help the bike tip in and final thought always keep your arms relaxed !!

This is the neatest way. One 6mm P-clip and one 8mm one to go round the fat pipe.

Congrat's on the test pass, hope you get a few dry days of summer to enjoy the new toy. The sv is a great bike. Just remember the throttle goes both ways :safe:, and trackdays are BIG FUN :thumleft:

i have been enjoying it so far, i dont ride to fast, been using counter steer for a bit now makes it much easier to corner - used it on my test and in my lessons - it feels natural now,

Have a question there. Please no flames but counter steering is the other way round isn't it?

Pretty certain that when.....

I'm hitting a left bend I'm pushing the left bar. (away from me)
or
I'm hitting a right bend I'm pushing the right bar. (away from me)

So steering "counter" to the way you would presume to steer!

Very new on the bike and not trying to teach anyone how to suck eggs as you've all most likely got more chickens than me but that was the very first thing the Ex Police instructor told and showed me on a re-fresher course I took recently at Dunsfold airfield (Ridesure). Genius and most definetely saved my bacon on a left hand bend that I was too near the crown on when white van man decided he'd take the short route around his right hand bend!

To hear Alex in my ear muttering
"Woooow (pause)....good job you, ('nother pause)...just think about keeping it tidy on your approach....."
reinforced immediately, that counter steering will be my best friend forever and ever and ever.

...Assuming that you know what you meant but just listed it the other way round.

Cheers Dean

PS Totally agree about the colour Very subtle / not in your face / classy

That's the correct description of it, don't worry though, we don't suck eggs here, it's unhygienic!!

Took me till a month after my test to realise that I'd misunderstood the description of counter steering and was doing it COMPLETELY wrong, my mate put me right and didn't even take the pi$$!!

I didn't even know it existed for years, from riding field bikes @ 12 then scoot @ 16 and then when I got a RD350 @ 18 next door neighbour local club racer explained it to me. Felt so wierd to start with but makes a world of difference. 15 years on it's still fun to flick flack the bike through chicanes or drop it into a corner by tugging and pushing on the bars :-) If you're interested theres some of the explanation of the way you influence the handling of a bike in "twist of the wrist" by keith code.
