So back to work and back to reality today, although I spent half the day staring into space with a grin on my face as I remembered little bits from the weekend. I'm not talking about the fabulous roads, or the great people, those go without saying. I'm talking about those little snippets in time that make you grin that bit wider.:D

Here are mine.

The German tourist at the hydro station who, on hearing that we'd done 400 miles on the Duke the day before, made a great show of looking to see how well padded Pete's bum was! Who says the Germans have no sense of humour!:D

The wigwam Waltons routine;)

Mike's grin as he described his ride to catch us after he'd marked the junction at Crianlarich:p

The Sunday rideout-ers all giggling as we returned the 'finger' to Quiff:D

Speedy Claire's bull, and the ensuing conversation which is NOT U rated:p

Northy on the Duke's Pass pretending to be some strange, dayglo-orange tree:D

Ralph on the Sunday morning explaining that he was far too p*ssed to explain why he was far too p*ssed to lead the ride. :p

Pete saying quietly to me at a set of traffic lights, 'Watch this'! Then him hitting Fizz's kill switch as the lights changed and scooting off up the road laughing his head off:D

The group of Italian tourists who came out of the visitor centre at Urquart castle as we were parked outside. Them taking pics of the Duke............and then their expressions and hand gestures when they saw Yorkie Chris's bike. One poor chap was so overcome all he could say was 'WOW!':p

Yorkie Chris's expression when he finally spotted the clean (well, ok, cleaner) bits on his bike:D

So those are some of mine. What are yours?

And then asking Me, (who'd been drinking 'til around the same time) if I'd do it!

Made me stunned rather than grin - Luckypants deciding to vault the beer garden fence on Saturday morning without holding on to anything. And landing flat along his side with a mighty whack right at my feet :smt103 That's not the introduction that I was expecting

The thunderstorm I rode through to get onto the M5 on Thursday

The look on Petes face when he turned to me and said "I've just put diesel in it"

Pete bringing me a cup of coffee in bed on Sunday morning in a vain attempt to get me to get up

Gunning it over Glencoe on Saturday and Monday afternoon, I was on my own for miles and miles, I liked the solitude I do alot of riding by myself and I really enjoyed those few minutes.

Yorkie Chris' bike sounding louder and louder over the weekend by the time Monday arrived it was starting to sound like a Lancaster Bomber.

The look on Northwinds face when I pulled up at the campsite on Friday and gave him back his "Disco" glass that he'd left at the AR campsite.

The challenge of riding home on Monday.

Shouting at myself "dont touch that f*cking brake lever" after I went into a bend to hot and then the grin as I came out of the corner in one piece

Seggons absoloutly canning the nuts of his restricted SV. I reckon his throttle cable must have stretched a good few inches by the time he got home.

Going the fastest I've ever gone on the SV (I don't know what came over me) and being passed by a waving Larry the Lamb.

Pete noting at the next stop how difficult it is to overtake an SV.

A disappointed Italian at Ballachulish - "only one Ducati?"

Discovering I was getting two rolls and sausage on Saturday morning.

Realising the fire smoke was going to keep the midgies away!

Running in the first half a dozen bikes between Tyndrum and Callendar. (But my god that's hard work, I'll stick to mid-pack thanks.)

Heads turning everywhere we went...

dyziowg catching his front end slide on his toes In the p1$$ing rain just outside Creiff on the way up .:smt103

Sitting at Ballachulish as carelesschucha and a few others contemplated Glen Coe "" its really amazing I think I might take my time and enjoy the Views "" nods all round , as soon as we left all forgotten, and I was breathing fumes as bikes disappeared into the horizon scaring the carp out of every cage driver in sight . Excellent thread Lissa!

Kilted Ginger pulling a 25 year old Highland Park and a Creme Brulee torch out of his camping gear. I thought I took everything but the kitchen sink camping, but Kilted takes the kitchen sink AND the contents of the chefs cupboard! The Highland Park was lovely by the way!

Riding the loop at Kinlochleven, then seeing Pete's grin as he pulls up behind me, followed by Yorkie Chris' bigger grin! I didn't know that road was there and I'm never going to pass by it again without riding it.

The laughter inside Carelesschucca's helmet after I rode up to him singing the batman song between Ballachulish and Glencoe, then the most enthusiastic one finger salute ever given, the laughter in my helmet, then giggles and renditions of "na na na Batman" inside my helmet that kept erupting for the rest of the day everytime his hiz viz started flapping behind him.

Sitting in the gazebo at 4am on Sunday with a bottle of whisky in hand, surrounded by the rest of the SV Ecosse crew.

Walking into the shelter on the Sunday morning and asking Lissa if I was really there, or was I still dreaming?

Catching up with the guys at the Drovers on the Sunday night after I thought the weekend was over

Lowest moment - Watching you all ride out of the campsite on the Sunday morning, then sitting in my tent feeling sorry for myself. I'm never getting slaughtered on a biking weekend again!

Filtering through Glasgow, its the filtering capitol of the world. I can't believe we got 12 bikes through there. I thought i couldn't squeeze through, until I saw the Pingu's bike in my mirror with all their gear on the sides

Giggling girls in the wigwam

the left hand bend into the oyster stop, and looking down at the speedo me shouting in my helmet
Get in there, mwahahahaha I wouldn't have taken that bend as fast as that usuallly

Leaving the oyster stop and two markers blocking both sides so 50 bikes could fly out of the carpark
Which leads me onto how to get a gaggle of bikes through temp lights....Pete n Lissa block the first car in the line, everyone squash in front 1,2,3, green off we go, Pete n Lissa follow the last bike as the lights change and the poor car driver is still standing at the red light...class

I got air....woooooo

Myself and Appollo sharing my bottom clenching moment with a caravan and an oncoming car.....we both thought It was toooo close

some giant had been playing marbles with the boulders over the moors

I hugged Northwind....a lot
I hugged Kilted Ginger.... a lot

meeting a lady who lives two streets up from me staying at the campsite.....

The mini's on the way back over the Erskine bridge..there wasn't just one or two...it was like the invasion of the minis.....hundreds. I thought I'd got ver ytired and was seeing things..until Mr. UKI pointed it out too!

The dead duck sat on the glass cabinet in the Drovers I'm sure it were going to peck my hands off, it felt and looked sooo real

Pete n Lissa decided to have the Duc at the Drovers on saturday night.....and missed the 10.30 noise curfew...hearing the bike bwooooooaaarghhh as they missed the entrance to the site, and riding back down the valley was amazing......don't think the old couple in the chalet will have been amused by the noise at midnight....tut tut..lol

Did i mention how fast I rode....bloody hell my bikes never seen 110, while I've had it

I now feel warm and fluffy inside:love:

Shortly preceded by "that Quiff's incredibelly GAY, I feel I've really bonded with him":smt103

Sorry Quiff, PM me and say please if you want to know who said it;)

Northys face when I asked him if he had room in his top box for a little something and held up a 5Kg bag of bbq coals, (Which Daviesv put in his tailpack, I think:confused:)

The antipidean barmaid systematically alienating everyone at the rideout:evil:

Larry waving like mad in his Glencoe Masacre t-shirt. His arms must have got tired.

Comabtfred's new friend whose busa is just better and faster than freds:smt071

The Pingus ariving with a tent bigger than the wigwams, and then being disapointed that they couldnt get the bike across the field to park it inside it.:smt028

Sitting by the side of the river at 2am with a gas lamp and bottle of malt until the rain chased us into the gazeebo.

Stewie, who "lost 4 hours" after i gave him a painkiller for his back:smt028.

ANd last but definately not least all the cuddles I got from Dizzy, :smt007 ;)

Great weekend everyone, thanks to you all.:grouphug:

So many memories for me but the ones that really stand out:

Arriving at the camp site with Jinxy having been rained on for the last hour of our journey wondering if we were at the right place. Hardly any bikes there then OYB and Jimmy wandered over and said hello.

Realising that when I went to put up my tent that i had never had it out the bag and had no idea how to build it (never been camping before) - Carelesschucca to the rescue - cheers mate :-?

Midgies bloomin thousands of them :D

Diesel Ducati - enough said!! ;)

Bottom clenching moment when Dizzy was in front of me and decided to overtake a caravan and car whilst a mondeo was getting closer and closer - thought the first aid kit was going to have to be used!!! :o

Kilted Ginger passing a fine bottle of whiskey around and getting told by the bar staff to remove it from the site. :D

Midgies - again never thought i would be glad to have rain so the midgies went away for a little while;)

Larry waving on numerous occasions when zooming past:smt039

Loading my bike on sunday to leave and it not starting :( OYB to the rescue - thanks mate :)

Amazed when i heard just how far some people had travelled just for the weekend - well done southerners :D

Most of all I will never forget the banter and friendliness of all who attended the weekend, due to the fact that everyone got on so well through a common interest (bikes). Great to finally put faces to names.

Thanks everyone for a very memorable weekend and i look forward to the next one and meeting up with you all again soon.

100+ down glencoe and the laughter in my helmet.

the whisky on Friday night! thanks KG

the banter

the decision to drink coffee on both mornings and end up with stinking headache and nausea (i don't drink coffee)

the longing to get my SV back (minus the sore backs)

Seeing Pete n lissa, Fizz, quiff, the pingu,s, Tilt, weeble, seggons and Rick on the M6 from the A49 bridge in Warrington and attempting to join them, and not catching up with them despite ragging the ar$e off my bike for the next 75 miles :D

meeting YC, miss YC, Melody, Dizzy, charlie 13 and danielle in Kendal

getting to put a load of names to faces on fri and sat night

becoming aquanted with about 8 billion midgies

my lost 4 hrs ;)

becoming convinced I was going to drop it on the bridge on the way in to to the campsite, and then dropping it in the car park :toss:

for some reason, tickling the bears chin everytime I went into the drovers to use the loo

hearing a group of strangers shouting out my name as I was at the bar in the drovers and wondering how the hell they knew me despite wearing a t shirt with my name emblazened across the front and back #-o

filtering through Glasgow

Getting the 'salute' as rode past the drovers on the way home :D

nearly dropping the bike again after slipping on diesel at Southwaite and being rescued by quiff, thanks mate :notworthy:

But mostly, it was just nice to be made so welcome by a bunch of new mates, roll on 2009, and a lowered seat, lowered bike , built up boots etc...:D

Oh wow, it all comes flooding back reading some of these. :D

Riding south on Friday night after waiting what seemed an hour for a chippie at Ft William. I'm gonna be sooooo late!

Seeing the sign and white A4 sheet for...
Bein Glas
Campsite
gro.056VS
...in the pishing rain. "Yeay, i'm here!" - then immediately dropping the bike on the bridge of shame. 8-[ Goodbye to my mirror, hello neck strain.

Waking up a hundred times in one night. Too sober to sleep well in that tent.

The weather forecast versus reality!!!!!

How Yorkies bike sounded the first time he blasted past, quite sick. This was not to improve!

Getting to loch fyne, to hear we've had two incidents already. :smt103

Doing the kinlochleven loop, then thinking if i hadn't had lunch i could have done it twice! :)

The Duke's Pass - Arriving at Aberfoyle after first assault, punching the air with delight.

The Drovers, making first eye contact with the bear. Yikes!!!

A wee sociable drinky by the stream beyond the camp with northy and dean.... i think......:drink:

The mental Sunday ride , then a goodbye honk of horns at Dunkeld. :(

The whole weekend was amazing, thanks to everyone. Yer a cracking bunch of folk.

Seeing where I was going to sleep at Pete and Lissa's and thinking "this is so much better then what I thought".
Seeing the group grow at each stop we did and then seeing just how big we were when we got on the motorway and all you could see was motorbikes lights in the mirror.
Seeing Mr UKI hit a big block of concrete and seeing his bike get thrown sideways and then thinking about which way to go to avoid him. Then somehow see his bike right itself from a crazy angle. Then seeing R1ck's bike hit then same lump and amazingly seeing both come out of it ok with no damage to iver bikes.
Seeing Yorkie Chris'es bike close up in the flesh for the first time and wondering how it's all still holding together.
There was one person I really wanted to see because I heard allot about him and that was Quiff. When people say he is funny, crazy, great I soon found that he really is. He is such a legend and is so great to be around.
Talking to Fizzwheel and realising just how great a person he is.
Realising it is very possible to overtake unrestricted SV's and pull away from them even though only having half their power.
Getting scared silly every time Yorkie Chris'es bike come flying past
Finding myself towards the front end of the pack and being able to keep up with the bigger bikes through the twistys, this put such a huge smile on my face.
Getting complemented on my riding by Pete, Fizz, Yorkie Chris and Quiff. That will stay with me forever considering these are the guys I look up to on their riding skills.
Fizzwheel shouting out across the car park "Seggons, is this your first time offsiding?" I wonder what give it away. :D
Being amazed at Claires survival reactional skills when she had a close encounter with another car on a tightening right hand bend and seeing her peg hit the ground and seeing sparks. If that was me, I would of panicked, froze up and been in the barrier.
Talking all the forum legends.
Talking bends flat out at silly speeds and it feeling very surreal.
Hitting 9K rpm in top gear.
Speedy Claire and the ketchup bottle at the fish and chip shop and then again at the pub when Luckypants just let one out.
Watching a minor car accident at the services where Fizz left us and realising I was the only one that see it.
On the way back to the camp site in the rain I spotted Pete in the distance and soon noticed I was catching. That give me such a great feeling, and then realised I was able to keep with him. This gave me an even better feeling. It wasn't the fact that I was able to keep with a bigger bike, but I was able to keep with someone that has such great road craft.

These are just a few of many many great memorise from the trip. :D

The buzz that intensified as the ride up group got bigger.

Being glad the wigwam was bigger than the pics had suggested.

Waking up before 6 every morning and having the showers all to myself.

The bridge out of the site.:shaking2:[-o<

Being able to relax and just go where we were pointed.

Following Haggis, or trying to, and amazed at his 360 deg neck.

YC and Miss YC flat out pretty much everywhere.

The breakfasts. Absolutely brilliant KG and Ralph.

Lp's grin after he "re-joined" us.

Quiff back on top form.

Everybody being so friendly.

The roads and apparently some scenery.

I thought of another one.

On the monday "harcore crew" ride, remember after the Commando memorial and then either just after or before the fuel stop where those harleys were being cleaned, that kiddie on the stripped down C90 with all the fairings taken off, lent right over the front absoloutly pinned and the farty noise is made as it went past. I was laughing for ages in my lid after that.

Lissa
22-08-08, 08:54 PM
Another one of mine.

Heading towards Spean Bridge we're bimbling along, as usual, when I suddenly realise there are two cars on our side of the road, over-taking a couple of coaches. The first car starts flashing his lights, and I sit there thinking 'He's flashing us. Why is he flashing us? This is our side of the road! The flipping nerve!'

Fortunately the road was wide enough for us to move right over to the left and the two cars squeeze past. I bet that was two car drivers who needed a change of underwear when they got home though!:D
