My pointy has been running rough lately so i took the air filter (k&n) out to clean it and have a look about for water in the electrics. I tried starting it with the filter off and it wouldn't start!
Now i can't egt it started and looks like its flooded!!! Took the plugs out and they were wet with petrol so i'm going to leave it over night and try again tomorrow.
I'm thinking maybe me HT leads are goosed, how often should these be replaced?

Never replaced mine.
Ever.
Actually that's a lie, I replaced one on my 1988 VFR750 when a cap stuck and I ripped out the lead from it trying to get it out.

Tried the search but can't find how to put the bike in dealer service mode, anyone shed some light?

There is a connector under the seat, it is small, white and has a rubber cover on it. Open this up and you will see a six pin connector with only five active pins. I think you need to connect the middle two wires together, not sure off of the top of my head. This will put it into dealer service mode.
Turn the ignition on and it should display a code where the engine temp usually is. You may want to prime the ignition and switch it off again before you start to put it into service mode though, the memory only goes back to the last time the ignition was on.
Someone will be along to correct it or confirm the above is right soon I hope...

Probs worth clecking if your plug are sparking correct so then you knowif it's your leads/plugs etc. Try leaving them out over the night so that the petrol on the cylinders can evaporate?
Anyway you have probley fixed it by now.

Hummmm it might be the case that your carbs are letting too much fuel through but I'm not too sure now I'm only a young un :D

Might aswell! It has to be done sometimes. Sorry I couldn't help you anymore! Hope it don't cost you too much matey
I may be missing something, but have you actually put it in dealer service mode yet?
In all probability one of the sensors (possibly one round the air box) has been unplugged or dislodged, without this information, the ECU is making poor decisions on fuelling and ignition.
Check all around the area you were working.

I'm not sure exactly where the plug is, there are a few white plugs under there?

I found a white plug with six holes and five cables in it, it has a rubber cap with UP on it. I take it this is supposed to kept upright? Now to figure out which two cables to join together

No fault codes are appearing and the bike now runs albeit very lumpy. Tomorrow i will check the throttle body take offs (for balancing them) and check they are intact. So close to running properly now!

Checked throttle bodies and they looked ok, one of the dust caps fr the take offs was a tube with a ball bearing inside it(!) replaced that with a cap and synchronised the throttle bodies and set the TPS (both were way out after adjusting 4 months ago) and its running fine!!!
WOoo HOOOOO!!!!!
