A blue one is a touch naughty and I would imagine being pulled for it quite soon. It's a quick fix to remove it though but I would've saved my pennies and bought a clear one. Just me onion. I mean opinion. :D If you flashed your high beams intermittently you could pretend to be a copper..........
*looks for blue cover for hornet on fleabay.

Give it a try. You've bought it now anyway. I've seen purple and green one's about but never blue. That said Stu goes around (or used to) with blue side lights on his SV. I think he got pulled once and asked to remove them. Suck it and see my dear chap. :D
Red is actually more illegal than Blue. All colours are illegal but there was an ACPO advisory saying just give a warning IIRC.
As long as you don't use it to pretend to be a police car  I would carry on using it until you find you are getting pulled too often.

Hmm, But think. Your bike is blue and white. A high viz vest and some well timed flashes I bet you could pull someone over if you we're feeling brave. I'd probably try it. Although, what's the sentence for impersonating an osstifer these days??

Ooohhhh I can't wait to go back on shift, I could have so much fun with Daz on his bike doing knee downs on the Orbital roundabout with his blue visor, loud can and small number plate he will no doubt get LOL
Bring it on !!! I bet my blue lights have more effect than yours LOL ;)

There is a difference between compulsory lights and optional lights. The little washer lights you can buy are optional so the law is a lot vaguer on these, but a headlight (or "front position lamp") is a compulsory light and there are stricter rules. I'm pretty sure it has to be white or yellow but there may be some legal beagle on here who knows better. I think the penalty is a £30 ticket. There are other rules specifically about blue lights but i think they need to be "flashing beacons", but as someone has said it would be all to easy for the police to show that your bike has a headlight flash button and this might count......personally I'd pick a different colour.

Only a clear one is legal, any change in the colour of the light is illegal.

As stated above, only a white light at the front is legal (other than indicators, which must be yellow/orange).
Failure to do so is violation of C&U. That means a £30 ticket minimum, but doesn't carry any points IIRC.
Red is actually more illegal than Blue. All colours are illegal but there was an ACPO advisory saying just give a warning IIRC.
Not quite. Both are equally illegal, but the enforcement recommendations differ. A red light could be interpreted as the rear of a vehicle, when in fact (in this case) it's the front! That leads to all sorts of dangers. A blue light however, everyone just thinks "Police"...
As long as you don't use it to pretend to be a police car
That reminds me, did you ever get those strobes working properly?
narr it would be hard for my bike to pretend to be a police car i mean its 2 wheels short for a start hehe.
You'd be supprised, and North Wales police now have 4 unmarked bikes that I know of, 2 VFR's (one silver & one red), a 'Busa (black) and a GSXR-750 (again, black). I had a nice tour around the "safety features" of the GSXR & 'Busa at Colwyn Bay. :)
FWIW, impersonating a police office, carries a maximum penalty of 1 year in prison plus a fine.
