Could it have been an 'S' that someone rebuilt as an 'N'? The 'S' was available in black back in 2000, I should know, I bought one. :)

OTOH it's only two panels and the tank, well possible someone just swapped them for black.

drag - i dont think its a respray. was bought from a fellow biker.ie member that can be vouched for by others.

fastdruid - dont think its an s as its got permanent brackets on the sides of the rad which i think was a naked only thing for a while for some weird reason. suppose someone coulda swapped the tank and panels.

is there any way of confirming any of this?

Have a look in the service book, the pink label will tell you the original colour and colour code.

Do you mean like this?

(ignoring the bend and dent obviously).

That's an 'S' radiator.

Whilst the 'N' models have little plates on the either end...

I've just found this which says there was a black naked in 2000

EDIT: makes more sense if I give the link as well!

Just remembered the the other difference in body work, are there stickers on the seat sides?

The 'N' has stickers on the seat sides, the 'S' doesn't.

You can peel off stickers... ;)

You are right, there was a 2000 model SV650N (naked) in black.

it says met black in the book. suppose its a black 2000 so if they were actually available. fastdruid - my radiator has those permanent brackets, but also has the plates dangerous dave showed. i thought only the naked 99-02 rad had those brackets, but obviously the s does too. or am i all over the shop again?
