I just wanted to confirm that heated grips not working is not an MOT fail. As ludicrous as it seems that it could be, I remember a general guide being, "if it's on the bike, it has to work", but common sense dictates this shouldn't include accessories. TIA, Ceri.

I'm 99.9% sure heated grips aren't in the MOT check list so it won't even be checked...but would need someone to look up the MOT regs online or have an MOT tester come on here...

But as an example to back up your opinion, a car wouldn't fail if it's radio didn't work.

They do not need to be working, mine certainly weren't last two times my VFR passed it's MOT.

Although they must not foul anything or cause the throttle to stick, that would be a fail.

"if it's on the bike, it has to work"
That applies to lights and horns mate, heated grips are not part of the inspection.
