Yeah....I had a whale of a time!

Can you not tell?!?

That was an early morning pic and it was a pretty hectic schedule with many roads to ride and beer to drink so relaxing it was not. But it was an absoloutely fantastic holiday and roads were amazing! I thought my tyres would get horribly squared off but from the croatian coast through slovenia, italy and switzerland it was 100% twisting mountain roads my arms still ache from heavy breaking for the hairpin corners.

I'll start uploading some on-board footage soon so you can all have a ganders.

WOOHOO I am back! :D

What an amazing trip. So many countries, roads, people, languages, food. It has blown my mind. There are so many stories to tell, like failing to get into Serbia, dodging minefields in Bosnia, Getting hospitality from a Croatian hardliner who's war hero is in the Hague at the moment ;). List of best ever biking roads too! Don't know where to start. Here are a few photos Philbut DIDN't want you to see :-P

Here are some of the best roads ever:

Croatian coastal road. Just went on for ever!
Italian dolomites (all over them)
Stelvio pass

Amazing things we have seen:

Church of bones in Czech Republic
Buildings with shrapnel and RPG holes in them in Bosnia
Croatian ultranationalist hospitality (note picture of Ante Gotovina in background http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/03/11/europe/hague.php)

I think I will write this all up soon and do a huge page anyway. So much to say and show. It truly blows you away and gives you a very different perspective on the UK! We are VERY lucky to have speed cameras in the UK!! Seriously! Our police are so lazy they let the cameras do the work whilst they eat donuts or whatever. The Bosnian Police and the Croatian police, and Slovenian police, were everywhere! They hide behind bushes with speed guns, all grey and green, no fluorescence or warning signs, and they bust you mercilessly! I saw 4 police cars in about 5 miles once we entered Croatia. In england you have way more freedom!

But we didn't get fined or point on our licence mind! And the police CB250 we saw wouldn't stand a chance if it came to a chace :p

Regarding the holes in the buildings. I was actually there at the time those holes were being made.

Glad you all had a safe (just about) journey there and back. I do indeed look forward to listening to some of those stories at the camping weekend. Can't think of a better way to get to sleep.

Accidentally reversed a few tanks into buildings, did you?

Those photo's of Sarajevo brought back memories. I used to drive up and down the main drag in an armoured land rover. Snipers in the hills used to take pot shots at us.

All along the main road on each side there used to be big concrete sheets to protect us and the civilians. The snipers would take shots through the gaps. One time travelling along that road the window was slightly open on my side. A bullet went through the open gap and wedged into the window on the other side. The bullet missed the passenger by mm's.

Lesson learnt.

scary ass stuff

Woah. The worst thing that happened when I was in was someone (me) threw a thunderflash in a landie. Just so happened to be the landie that the sgt was having a brew in. Lesson learnt (after a few smacks to the head).
