Hello everyone, as much as I love racing now i'm missing having a road bike. I really fancy the above mentioned bike and I was wondering if anyone on here has one? Also is there a UK Ninja forum as I want to find out some things about it and all I can find is yank ones.

Cheers.

I have one, what do you need to know?

I'm after a 6R too after much umming an aahing over what to get and changing my mind every 5 mins. Heard the 05/06 was the sweet spot as they softened it down - hasnt it gone back to being twitchy on the road again for the new model? Or is the 07 a good roadbike year too?

I did about 7'000 miles on mine including commuting. Yes, it's not quite as comfy as a upright bike but nothing too bad. Revs to 16'000rpm, goes like stink and handles like it's on rails. Build quality is pretty good, just make sure you give it a regular clean to avoid furring up on the bolts. Anything else you need to know?

Did you have a green one and did the colour annoy you after a period of time cos i'm still not sure whether to go green.

I just cant wait now. Cheers for all the little tips. I had heard the build quality wasnt brilliant but after having a zooki for the last 4 years I will be used to it. Only things I want to change (I havnt even bought it yet :p) is the back end. It really needs a tidy! And Ive also heard that shortening the sidestand is a good idea as they are quite high and can fall over. Other than that maybe some R&G's and maybe a solo seat cowl. Apart from that it seems perfect! 16000rpm here we come! Oh and its in green. Do it you know you want to. Or Orange.

My 'What used bike' guide says the build quality on the ZX-6R is very good with no issues (although its the 05/06 its on about)? As for colour, yeah, it wouldnt feel right if it wasnt green. Went up to Cheshire Motorcycle Salvage the other day and they had a scary amount of green 6R's lined up, think every owner in Cheshire must have binned theirs.

Yes I had a green one. I had the Orange one as the demo bike which was too much in my opinion (and also a little girly). The black one is too nondescript, from a distance it could be any jap bike. If it's Kawasaki racing green then you know exaclty what bike just tore past you. :p

The sidestand is the longest I've ever experienced. But then it never fell over either. You can easily swap it for something shorter. I bought R&G bungs and the only thing is you have to cut some plastic away from the fairing to be able to fit the right one. I used a hot knife, no real biggie but a dremel would be better. Just be careful when removing the engine bolts, mine were stuck solid!

Same goes for racing, expect it is 'you tore past' and not 'tore past you'. ;)

Mr Anderson told me how his stand was so tall. That fell over (after being hit by a rickshaw) so he fitted a shorter one and now it sits where it looks like it should always have.

Have fun Sideshow.

The side stand is an issue, I need to change mine as it is worrying sometimes unless you can find a sweet camber to park it into, and apparently the stand from a J model is a straight fit and makes the bike a lot more stable.

As for colour, orange is the way to go, but then I am biased :) I have been told on numerous occasions when in traffic how good the bike looks in that colour, and I am glade I had a last minute change of mind in the showroom as I was getting a black one. (Actually scrub that, don't want to many of them about)

Handling is great, I have had no issues with build quality as yet, but then only had it since March, there is no storage under the seat to speak of due to the exhaust location, although my disk lock looks as though it was specially designed to go there (http://www.bikestop.co.uk/detail.php?id=1372 (http://www.bikestop.co.uk/detail.php?id=1372))

I have the Evotech Crash bungs (http://www.evotech-performance.com/acatalog/Kawasaki_No_Drill_Standard_Bobbins_ZX6_2007.html (http://www.evotech-performance.com/acatalog/Kawasaki_No_Drill_Standard_Bobbins_ZX6_2007.html)) as they do not require the fairings to be cut, but they were a pain to fit, the left hand side engine bolt would not move and in the end I had George white fit them when it went in for the first service.

Yep i have a black one, just gone past the 6K mark on it now so its been used as well, concidering i got it last december.

The Side stand is very tall makes it almost upright, which is an issue for parking on cambers etc.

The only other issue i had (and a few others) is the Rocker cover gasket started to leak a small bit of oil. But it was replaced under warrenty.

They are awsome bikes , far better than say a Falco, and INO the best looking SS600 and best sounding one out there. Although Kwak arent up to Honda build quality they are beter than Suzuki from my experiances.

For crash bungs, use Evotech on the frame,as they dont require the fairings to be cut and they are made from the same material as R&G

I have evotech frame and swing arm protectors. And can vouch for the swing arm ones. I came off low speed in the winter and they saved the swing arm. they stayed in place did not buckle a mm, and TBH probably would have been ok for a second spill.

As for getting the Engine bolts out, you need a Breaker bar with the correct head attachment for the frame bolts( Halfords sell both) and they come out easly.

Thanks for the tip. I was using a allen key which chewed it to bits and then it snapped off. Had to use a monkey wrench in the end.

Just had a look and their website says that both the standard and the aero crash bungs require the fairing to be cut if you have a fully faired bike?

My god! That bike is awesome. It just feels like it wants to rev. On the way home I had a little play. I thought I was changing around the redline and when I looked down I was changing at only 10K. Another 6.5K to go. I'm so chuffed with it.

Hell yeah it revs to death, See what hapens when you pin the throttle open at 12K and wait for the little orange shift up light, 132 in 3rd anyone!! well that is what i done today on the ay home ( on a private airfield i passed honest. )

If you get it right you can get the front to lift on shifting up to 3rd on the power, drop the clutch:)

Cool, ive already seen 115... KPH/MPH you decide :)

The front lifted quite happily in second when I pinned it. Caught me by surprise a little I must admit. Front went skittish before I knew it. Come rain or shine i'll be out tomorrow.

Nor me. Though a cats eye or bump will loft the front in 3rd/4th. Pretty mad.

Yeah thats my race SV in disguise. Wearing GSXR600K5 bodywork. A lot cheaper than Sv race bodywork. 2 rounds to go this year and it still looks as good as it did when I first painted it.

That might explain it :) I think when used to the SV/v-twin redline, you tend to want to shift up earlier on an IL4...
