Can someone give me a quick rundown on tyre choices for a SV650 K5
I'm not going to be doing loads of miles a year so I don't need super hardwearing ones, probably a bit more sporty.

I've read quite a few good reviews on Conti Road Attacks so I went out and I just bought some from these guys on the bay and this is the size you need

Will let you know how they are once I've got them and fitted them but the price is right and they are really fair on the postage.

A good sports touring tyre is all the SV needs on the road, they can cope with over 100bhp bikes with no problem.

Yep, I agree with DD. Though it's not all about power of course, a TT 125 doesn't make 100bhp but they don't use sport touring tyres ;)
For road use, really sticky tyres are just madness, in most people's cases they won't even get them up to temperature so they end up not even being as sticky as they should be. There's a definate argument for middle-of-the-road tyres like a Sportec or similiar, for the low-miler, though. Especially if you fancy trackdays or similiar, if you only do 3000 miles a year or whatever then it's not such a big deal.

I put Z6's on my GSXR for the Ecosse weekend, bike felt better on those than it did on the Diablo Corsa III I had on it before.

went there today, very helpful bunch and I decided on a pair of Dunlop Roadsmarts costing £205 fitted.
Thankyou to all who helped
Essential rubber service a lot of the London couriers, so have a genuine idea of milage you can expect out of various tryes. They get a lot of feedback in a very short space of time which can be a big help :)
What sort of milage do people generally get out of the oe's on pointies?
What would also be expected on the Conti Road attacks?

The OE's on my pointy did about 1k if i remember correctly :P
Swapped them out for Z6's the first time, on Pilot Road 2's now.

Bang on 5K for my oe D220s, the rear was probably 500 miles past it, the front was fairly evenly worn and was just barely legal. To be fair, I really wasn't keen on the D220s and didn't go out of my way to preserve them; not bad tyres as such, just not very talkative and never seemed to get warm.

6800 on my front for D220's and it's gonna be swapped tomorrow and 5k for the rear, swapped for Pilot Road 1's as i couldn't afford BT021's. Rear is pretty squared after 1800 miles and tbh i'm not the biggest fan of them. If you got the money BT021's seem the way to go but the best way to find out is try yourself.

Excellent choice!
Having bought my bike in May, (k3 with only 6,500 mile on the clock) The original tyres were (rear mainly) were just about on the wear limit.
Happened to read a tyre roundup in a mag ("bike" I think) and 5 or 6 makes were tested in identical circumstances and with the same tester.
The test was done on a CB600 as I recall and the guy put the Roadsmarts right up there as the best all round tyre for a sport / tourer.
Got mine a couple of weeks later, (a fine Saturday morning) scrubbed them in the same morning then took a good old look at my new purchase on Sunday morning to find a beautiful 1 1/2" oval nail up to the hilt!
So you did well to get yours for £205. Mine did cost that but adding another rear to the equation was a little bit "f.........rustrating" shall we say!
Anyway, great tyres and haven't been able to find anything bad about them in any reviews / mags / forums. Only time will tell if they got the longevity bit right.
