Essential Rubber - in Downlands Road

Used by just about every Soho member so they can't be that bad . . .

FWR on Kennington Road. Cheap and friendly.

And totally incompetent

Nearly killed Rictus on 2 occasions, once by not putting a front caliper back on properly and then by not being able to rivet a chain properly.

Essential EVERY time for me, despite FWR being < 5 mins from my place and essential being closer to 20 mins

Yeah? Weird.

I've used them for years with no problems.

Picking up a new set of 090s later, will see if I die riding back.

Haven't used Essential, but used FWR once for ride-in, ride-out tyre fitting on a ZZR1100 and the front wheel wasn't balanced properly. I didn't notice til I'd got to the M1 because it didn't show til you hit 60mph. Rather than go all the way back through London and back out again, I carried on and had my local bike shop correct it when I got back to Flitwick.

FWR's prices are keen, but I won't be using them for tyre fitting again.

Gah. Didn't even get as far as a tyre fitting. Need to remove the wheels to do that and the rear spindle on the RGV's stuck fast.

Had to leave it with them and get the tube back to the office. All hail the stinkwheel money-pit!

FWR are okay.

Essential Rubber are a joke (couldn't do a pair deal on conti road attacks - would have been £195 for front and rear, NOT FITTED!!) Won't bother to phone them up for a quote let alone drop by.

If you can get to Kilburn, southern cross are good to deal with.

I've tended to find FWR and Essential aren't far off in terms of price. Phone both and find out. One may be doing a deal that week, who knows. I would say that every time I've been into Essential they've been good. I've not been into FWR, I'm sure plenty of people have beeen happy, but I've spoken to a few that weren't.

Essential gets a tick from me. Went to FWR after a recomendation for a chain and sprockets. Hmmm, had to re-set my gear linkage as they hadnt put it on properly making it vritualy impossible to gears! Would have gone back, but couldnt be ar5ed!

Essential to date have not been the cheapest (Watlings in Catford are ALWAYS cheaper), but the service is good and they do know what they are doing and not staffed by 19 years old muppets who no sod all!

Noooo! Go to Essential rubber! Been to FWR with 2 different bikes and they managed to scratch both the swingarm and rims on both occasions. I wouldn't have gone back the second time, only I was desperate and they were close to work

Essential rubber every time for me too.

Had a front Pilot Power 2CT fitted by them last week for £95 after I had phoned FWR for a quote.....they wanted £111 so FWR isn't always cheaper.
