View Full Version : upgrade time :)
iv managed to save some money and its time it was blown! :D
front springs have been ordered from hagon and im thinking of putting in a rear shock from a k4 gsxr 750/1000
apart from maybe having to chop the battery box is the job a straight forward swap? do i have to get different dog bones or can i use the sv ones?
being only 5'8 with short legs i dont really want the bike to sit any higher if possible. ive tried the search option but its coming up with a squillion and one posts so apologies if this has been posted before
thanks orgers ;)
oh and did anybody hear ACDC's new single on radio2 today? i missed it :(

Get a shock from Hagon too and you will benefit more than having a GSXR/ZXR shock.
cant really afford the hagon shock :( but the gsxr shocks on ebay are in my range. im going to see what the bike feels like after the new springs are in first before i decide for sure

aye a proper sv aftermarket shock will work better than the gsxr ones but the gixer ones are a good improvment aswell.

+ 1.
Think of it this way, the GSXR shocks are a step up from OEM SV shock but then a SV specific aftermarket shock is another step up from a GSXR shock. Get an Elka, Ohlins, etc... and you will have an even bigger step above the others.

Penske... but they are a little expensive :(
Just seen this thread, i could help you out with that rear shock. Fortunatly when i got rid of my SV i took my Nitron Shock off it's only done 1500miles tops and its a fantastic shock compared to standard. I'm thinking of £150 cash, and i'd meet you at gordano Services this side of the bridge if you like. Just a thought, i can't be arsed to post it.. I'm in no hurry to sell just thought i'd give you something to think about!! Or if theres anyone else out there that wants it and is willing to travel i'll fit it FOC, it won't take 30mins!!!

Uber, if you ever change your decision about posting that Nitron shock, I'll take it off your hands at that reasonable price.

I did the Hagon front springs and GSXR1000 shock change to my sv...must say that I am very pleased with the results, especially after spending a bit of time getting the static sag set right.
As others have said on this forum, a bespoke shock is ideal, but for me was too expensive. The shock I bought was 40 quid, and whilst it may not be as good as a bespoke Hagon or Nitron, in terms of value for money I think it is fantastic.
Without trying a different shock back to back with the GSXR one, I couldnt say if buying a bespoke one is worth it for my level of riding ability - however, there was a noticable improvement over the stock one...

Sorry bud but stoppy has already confirmed he wants it. Just waiting for a decent chance to fit or pick up.
Cheers Rich
