always seems like a good idea when you're bidding on stuff, but then afterwards you realise you were focused on outbidding the other guy and you probably wouldn't have paid so much for the item if you hadn't got all competitive
bastrds...
Wht did you overspend on?

thing that annoys me is why people bid on something when there is days left until the end of the auction, completely defeats the object :smt021

i was bidding on a tail tidy for the gixer RRP £39.99 and it stated this in the advert so i bid up to £35 on it with £5 postage but got outbid? some numpty paid £44 inc post and packing! £4 more expencive than buying it from your local bike shop?

This is why I snipe my bids. I work out what I am willing to pay and then set it up to snipe 2 secs before the auction ends.
Like kwak I work out what a new one will cost me and then work out what my maximum bid will be from there.

No. If two people place the same highest maximum bid, it is the person who put the bid in first that wins it. Also, if you're not going to be home when the auction ends then you've got to put a bid in early

I hate ebay.. back when beanie babies were the thing my parents brought loads...
I moved out last year and now my old room has become a storage area for about 1000 beanie babies all stored in zip-lock bags completely cataloged. one day i will take them all out of the bag, pile them up and throw in paint grenades.

Not if you're the person selling the item......

Then, in say 50 years time, someone will appear on the antiques roadshow with a 1000 strong beanie baby collection that gets valued at 200k! You'll love your parents then ;)

What if you don't have a local bike shop? Not much on the Western Isles (Barra, Benbecula etc) for example. And a lot of people in Cornwall don't even realise there's more UK after the Tamar...

Why does it defeat the object? How I do ebay is like this... I find what i'm looking for, see if it's cheaper than buying from a shop/dealer/whatever, decide what it's worth to me and then bid that amount as my highest bid taking into consideration the p&p and then I leave it.
If I win then great if I don't then someone obviously wanted it more than I did and that's reflected in their bid which is higher than mine.

Auctionstealer is handy if you aren't there at the end.

Not as good as his books on the ( original ) Elite and Eleven.
Why is it an American who writes such exquisite books?
