View Full Version : Exhaust fitting.
I've done a search but found nothing , so here goes..
Looking at getting a new can, maybe a CCC.
I understand I have to cut the link pipe I have now - Correct?
Or is there any other methods? And would I be able to re-attach the original can again if I did fit an after market can.
Any other tips and information appreciated.
Thanks,
Mat
yup
you need to cut the pipe, you should get a piece of pipe so you can refit the old one
advice on cutting........... measure twice cut once
No real other method. For reference, when you make the cut, it should be approx. 5cm from the weld just after the collector.
If you cut it off, you can get small sleeves to connect the two halves of the pipes, but to be honest, once you've switched the can and hear the difference you won't want to.
Right, I'm getting a Scorpion tomorrow..
Asfar as fitting, I just need to make a straight cut in the pipe, about 5cm from where collector is welded to the original link pipe?
Can anyone give me some more information, or is that it? Pictures would be appreciated. :)
Thanks,
Mat

45mm - 50mm from the weld, as said measure twice and cut once. The cut can be done easily with a hacksaw, it is easy to cut the link pipe with the system still on the bike however keep a constant eye out for background cutting (anything other than the link pipe).

actually i cut mine and it took me ages. Advice don't use a grinder because it makes a horrible mess. Junior hacksaw with a strap of rubber wrapped around the swingarm to stop the scratching. And also remember you cut more off but you can put it back on so if you slightly over measure it's not too bad.

Re-connection sleeves available on Ebay but most aftermarket exhausts come with them now a days.
Fitted...
With the baffle in it sounds a million times better...
..With the baffle out, not even the same bike. :):)

Just fitted mine today - make sure you have plenty hacksaw blades- I went through about 8!
I used a fullsize hacksaw for a little bit to get a cut/hole started, then a small one for the rest - Only used two blades for the little one.
Removing the rear set really helped aswell.

Ok, here's a query!
Are all SVs the same with regard to the end can you can fit?
ie.will a 2003 pipe fit a 2000 bike?

If there is a difference it is with the link pipe only.
