Hello
In the best sense of timing, the speedo on my pointy has just packed up last night, 12 hours before its MOT!
Stripped the front wheel and found that the plastic splines have given up the ghost. Does anyone know whether you have to change the whole sensor unit or can you just buy the rotor?
It's still going in for the MOT - making sure I ride it in and out of the bay!
Cheers
Dave
Shouldn't be a problem with the MOT.
My speedo has been dead for two weeks now but the bike still passed its MOT last week.
The mechanic rode it in and out of the bay too.

Ditto what Melody said about the MOT. The speedo packed up on my old H*nda the day before it's MOT and I was told not to worry about it by the MOT place

Well, it's at the MOT garage as I type.
Does the unit from a curvy fit a pointy? Just found one on ebay and they look identical.

Hi Dave, you can buy the rotor seperately, it costs about £17. The unit from the curvey doesn't quite fit the pointy, but with a bit of bodging it will fit (I have one on my pointy). It sits away from the wheel by about a mm, which could build up dirt in between, and you need to shave a bit of plastic off the unit where the bolts from the front disc rub against it. It is obvious when you try to fit it.

It passed, only got 2 advisories - noisy exhaust and a tiny bit of play in the swingarm bushes which I have cured by torquing the bolt up.
Left work today to find the guys at work had stuck a post-it note over my speedo with 'fast' written on it, peeled this off to reveal another that said 'Bloody fast' and finally another one below that with 'Too fast Mr Ocifer' on it. :p
Cheers for the heads up on the different one for the curvy. Will get a rotor on order on monday.
Thanks for the help
