Wonder if anyone can clarify this to me...

I've always heard the restrictor kits are a couple of washers on the inlets..but somewhere in the forum I've read it's a CDI (not sure if its this name) unit??

what's that all about then?

does anyone know how the SK4 can be restricted...

and if anyone has one for sale..I'm after one!

cheers!

If your carb'd, then you bend over for FI international then cough up £150 for two stupid little washers that go between the engine and carbs

If you have fuel injection, then you get an ECU chip and stick that in, easy peasy.

As already mentioned, if you have a Pointy SV (2003 onwards) it is restricted with a ECU.

That sounds about right, if you buy a bike from a dealer now though it should be free (whether new or used).

If it's a Sports K4 (2004 with angular framework - not the curvy bubbly odd-looking shaped one), then it's a Fuel Injected model. To restrict, you'll need a 33bhp restricted ECU. It's a plug and play mod, unplugging the full power ECU and plugging in the restricted ECU. Ask a round on the org, as the FI ECU's tend to sell circa £50-60. Try egay as well - same sort of price.

Because most people get a bike from a dealer and it is free from them now. It used to be free in the beginning too but then a few dealers started getting cheeky and were charging you for it, now Suzuki have put an official clamp on it saying they are free if you purchase the bike from a registered dealer.

I have an FI kit for an 04 SV, washers and a throttle stop. According to the website its the correct one, the part number on the packet is 04-wvby-k25

:laughat: [JP]

its a blue one........... did no-one tell you they are the slowest.

nah, looks a nice bike, already got a few extras, but i would get a fender extenda, it just lenthens the front mudgaurd, to stop water getting to the front plug, i see it all ready has the carp flap (little plastic thing below the rad)

i bet your tempted to do a deal with the GF for the blade eh?

[JP]
29-08-08, 05:40 PM
hovis!! have you been drinkin again??? lol
I like my blade very much thank you!

I must admit.. i took the SV yesterday for a test ride and it was good fun...too slow though!

but nice engine, I like the twins, I used to have an Ex-Harris TRX850 with all the bits and bobs and that was fun to ride... but the blade IS the blade.. lol
but reckon was a good deal..

comes with all these extras...
Dark duble bubble screen, extended mirrors, bellypan, crash bungs, Remus exhaust, color coded rear hugger, tail tidy, Harris exhaust hanger, mini indicators, Datatool 3 alarm, Alphadot registered, new tyres, service 2k miles ago, paddock stand, bike cover, Oxford chain, all sort of maintenance products.... plus all the standard bits - exhaust, plate holder, pillion seat and grab handles, etc...
and loads of receipts for all the parts bought, so the extras are not off ebay, brand new on that bike.

charris - do you need all that to restrict the bike? the FI CDI unit, the washer and the throttle stop?
dont i need only the cdi unit?

Sorry, all i have is the washers and throttle stop, no CDI.

You need either or.

strange... cause the guys in the page before said that it can only be restricted by the CDI unit?

im getting confused now.. lol

I was sold my bike, a 2006 model, and the dealer fitted 2 washers in the airbox, and a throttle stop on throttle cable holder.
The restriction documents show its doing 33bhp.

Though I've now removed them and replaced it with a 33bhp ECU unit because it was running rich as hell, and having only 1/4 turn on the throttle was driving me nuts.
With the ECU, its more efficient, better fuelled and revs a hell of a lot freer, aswell as being able to turn the throttle its full amount.

So, all the suggestions are correct bud. :)
Personally I'd just pick up a second hand ECU.

+ 1, as mentioned above it can be done in other ways but why on earth would you want to ruin the power delivery of a perfectly good engine and strangle it to death. I know I joke and say a 33bhp SV is strangled, but the washers literally will do that.

The ECU is a plug and go installation, costs nothing to fit or remove and if you go to a decent dealer it will cost you nothing (this only applies as long as you purchase the bike from them at the same time).

Besides, you can pick them up secondhand even off of Ebay. How often do you see the washers going secondhand?

A K5 one is working on my K6, if thats any help.
Doubt there's any difference in ECUs between K3 and K7 - Though I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong.

Sorry for the slight hijack! Where is the ECU on a k5? In it under the driver or pillion seat? or none?

Smoggy

Should be under the main seat, next the battery.
