Ive sorted it now.
As the curvey faired clocks have vent holes in the rear to stop misting up, its possable for condensation to get into the clocks. Yes on my bike (people who know it), i dont have fairing on the front so mine are more prone to the problem but as a guess i would say anyone could have the issue.
After i did all my tests to check that the speedo drive was actualy working, i moved onto the clocks to find that corrosion had damaged a few tracks inside the clocks. One of these being the track that carried the speedo pulse. Where it happened the tracks are so close together, so i found the end points and just bridged them with some wire. Cleaned up any other corrosion that i could see and then used some nail varnish to cover the exposed copper tracks.
All works now.
