I went down there today and got a PR2 180/55 section fitted for £129. I know some of you on here have been ripped off so I thought id share this. The SV's PR2's are £10 cheaper. I also got the back filled with ultra seal for £20 and the front re seated and re valved for £10, had a slow leak...
it only took 20 mins to change the rear, but I watched them work and chatted ******** with them while they worked.
Check the site out, here is a link to the tyre's available.

Im not 100% if they all do bikes, just ring and ask and you should be A OK.
Hope this helps. Sorry to those who it is too late... At least youll know for next time.
Cheers,
Nick
Barnsley branch is supposed to be a bike specialist, but Doncaster isn't - even they admit it.

I got mine form National in Edinburgh, only 1 branch does them and you have to take your wheels off if you want them to do it they won't do that for you. I got the tyres there and then took them to Saltire Suzuki to fit, saved £30 over what Saltire wanted but they said themselves they can't match because they aren't a big company, fair enuf. National were great and quick to deliver

Hmmm at Barnsley they will do it all for you. Take the wheels off for you for a £10 (£5 per wheel) which is resonable. I think that is a thing on the side though to be honest.

The issue is that some National Tyres garages aren't insured for putting bikes on paddock stands, so they can't offer the ride-in-ride-out facility that others can.
I remember calling around ages ago, and the local National garage told me that they'd love to, but they're not insured.
Still £119 (for an SV PR2) is a bit steep for me. Knock another £10 off & you'll be about the price I pay.

Yea thats why I think this is a thing on the side. Its a shame this is the case though as im sure they would make a decent amount of money out of the extra business. There were 2 other bikes there when I went getting them done there...

Slightly OT, but anyhow...
You can always tell the quality of workmanship and decency of prices by the number of other bikes there. :)
The tyre shop I use always has 3-4 other bikes either being done before me, or waiting for me to finish. There's also generally 5-6 cars there either being changed or waiting.

But then how far did you have to ride and spend in fuel to get these cheaper tyres?

Already run in, hmmm. Someone got rid of the chicken strips for you? :p
Not that its hard to run in a tyre to be honest. Mine has done the 100 miles already... only got it fitted yesterday. I take it you got it ballanced as well for that neio?

Hell yeah there are no chicken strips on the tyres i get;).
And yep ballanced and new valves each time as well.
busted;)
Yep, but you should see the ammount of people who look at my tyres at meets etc LOL.

Ha ha. Not that it should be difficult to lose them on a SS600 I wouldnt have thought since my iron maiden (you seem to think that is what it is) seems to enjoy screwing the edge of the tyre.
Nice I guess. :D

I like to check out chicken strips at meets. The amounts of people on these pretty super bikes etc with nice chicken breasts on the back tyre is laughable... :)

Yeah, given that the last rear i just got rid of had a bit of help on the edges being a scrub, it was the first ryre i have had that needed replacing because trhe edges were down below the wear limit while the center had a little left above it. Rather than being square it was more angular profile due to the way it started to wear and i carried on wearing it more on the edges. :smt040

Have not found anybody better than National for price vs. convenience(sp?)
Phone call and they usually have what I want next day or next. Ride-in and DIY on their stands or chuck them in the back of her motah from the house.

 no, but seeing as i re wore the blistering away to the edges, i am more than capable of removing my own chicken strips anyway;)

Some bikes seem to do that. My dads old BMW R1100RS was the same. Looked a little like \/ this lol.
At the moment mine isnt doing it though, I think its mostly down to doing lots of motorway miles to and from base so mine are wearing evenly. The front actually looks a little odd with how it is wearing because I dont get to the edge of the front. I presume you dont on your's either, the 70 profile dont seem to, the 60 on the SV though seemed to get to the edge fine.

Yep the 70 profile is hard to ge tto the edges. although my last front ( scrub) was blistered on the edges:)
The wear pattern on a front is not the same as loooking at a rear. You are looking for stepping on the tread, from rear to front i think rather than squaring like the rear. A lot of people will think the front is ok as its not gone square or stil has a few mm left, but in reality if they should be checking how much it is stepping on the front for a better indication.

Stepping? What be that, im not sure... Please explain. :)

run your hand along the lenght of the front tyre, you will feel a slight differance in height between the front of the tread and the rear of it, when tis gets so noticable its almost like a step you need to replace the tyre.

Ah. Mine is doing that slighyly off centre. Doh. That sucks, I think itll still do a couple of thousand more miles though. I would have thought the front would have lasted longer than this, I got 2 back to one front on the SV, must be riding this bike harder without realising. Thinking about it though maybe the front has had extra wear cos of low pressure. Recently its been losing pressure a little and so I have done a few miles with the front as low as 30PSI. Ive had the tyre taken off and re seated and new valve so that should be sorted. I guess the low pressure has worn it quicker :(
Its only when it becomes really noticable, as in you fel your hand drop a fair few m diferance between the front and rear you need to think about changing. Dont worry if its only a bit.
