View Full Version : Twin headlamps and tail tidy.
Evening all.
I've been pondering over getting some twin headlamps for the SV. Any recommendations? Just something to make it look a bit meaner.
Also a tail tidy, as I can't stand the bl**dy great honking bit of plastic at the back of the bike.
Oh, my bikes a curvey as well.
Graham.
As far as i'm aware, the only way to tidy the tail is to either take a hack-saw to the plastic sail or get an aftermarket undertray, if you opt for the undertray, you'll have to ditch your hugger if you have one! Hope this helps a bit!

Think speed triple 8)
And why can't you have an undertray and a hugger ? :???: I have both on my other bike

I was taking the Mickey Stu LOL , I think he meant you can`t have an undertray and a hugger on a Curvy , probably bash into each other on speed bumps and such stuff .
Ahh :Phew: sorry for bringing your sexuality into doubt ;)
OK, if they do specifically on a curvy :smt102 They do that on my ZX7R, but it's not a big problem
If you thinking about the cheap (<>£70) the you are going to compromise night time visibility for it. The Dominator type headlights are poor for night illumination. Plus the high beam and headlight beam are so far apart that if the headlights are pointing in the right direction, switching to main beam will mean it will be shining far too high to be of any use riding an unlit road.
The Triples lights or bates lights are good lights but far too big for a little SV650 and will look stoopid. (Only my opinion of course).
You need to spend lots of money to get anything useful. That or make a conversion from an old school bike that had the twin lights fitted as standard. But then that would probably also look as stoopid unless you built them into a cowl.

You're wrong. I dont know where you got that info from.
I had an undertray and a hugger on my curvey and I've seen pointies with both fitted as well.
I never had any trouble with the tray and the hugger hitting each other either.

There we go so that`s confirmed then :D , good to have that settled as it may have stopped somebody`s pimpin` SV dream :D . I have to second what BigApe said there , I`ve seen loads of aftermarket lights on bikes and they are woeful to say the least on output and beam , probably due to a poor plasticky reflector in the back of the light .
Thats all i've heard, i appologise for being wrong, i thought it was due to the undertray stretching to far toward the shock so they interfeered with one another!
I do beg your pardon!
hi guys i need some help im green to bikin ,can u help on finding fairing filler panels?thanks

Hey Nelly
Welcome :D
First off well done for obviously searching first but what you want isn't really to do with this thread so you're welcome to start your own thread & may get more/better replies as a result.
First off (again ) the more info you give, the easier it is for us - what bike you got? (we can assume SV, but Pointy? :) or Curvy? :() Where are you? (you never know someone local might pop round to help)
So do you mean the infil panels under the riders seat? or the inner clock faring surround? or front indicator removed flush covers?
If you just want to find a standard part to buy you're best off starting a thread in the Stuff wanted section.
This section is more for advice on what to get
:D
Hope that helps
ive got a pointy, its an 09 sport,im in stockport, and its the front indicator removed panel im after, cheers for the info stu n ya megaposter is ace

Hiya, regarding the twin headlights on a SV.
Yesterday in Fareham we saw a dark blue pointy, silver frame, with Triple head lights (1050) and the little fairing brow (cant remember the name) it looked very nice. Plus the guy popped a wheelie for us as we were admiring his bike. :p He also had twin cans which sounded like gods handclap, very jealous! Although I have a beowulf warrior on mine which sounds good, this sounded much better.
He really made my day and if anyone knows a sv rider with an arai black helmet with the monster logo on it, on the above bike, please tell me as Id like to lick his bike;)
I really would like to try that out on my 05 sv650.
Bart, my other half has a 1050 triple and I think I might have to take his lights and brow off to see if I'm gonna spend loads of money on putting it on my SV650 pointy.
Didnt think it looked stoopid like another member said here, we really liked it and it looked the DB.

Are you sure it wasn't an SV1000 that you saw? Would account for the different exhaust noise that you'll never be able to compete with on an SV650.
Pay no attention to Stig of the Dump when it comes to aesthetics you haven't seen his bikes, we have :p ask him about his paintjob...on his dullsville, or his current pink bike ;) You do what you like Denise :D
