I mean really? What is the point of them?

I've never worked in a company that has an HR department even vaguely capable of justifying their salary, yet the managers seem to command huge sums of money!

Yes I've been scorned today! ;)

How dare you mention the word HR:smt018:smt071
I never want to see or hear a member of our dept. Absolute numpties!

Thinking about it, I'm sure I've had a rant about HR before on here

What have they done?

Our HR dept is the most incompetent bunch of morons on the planet. I'm not quite sure what they do any more because most of the normal HR stuff has been out sourced to another company because they couldn't get it done.

What have they done?
I've been in this Job 12 months, and have been offered a job starting next September based upon an informal interview.

Having hounded HR to sort everything out for my leaving (contacted them last month), they ask me halfway in to my final day, if I can attend an interview next week!

When I told them I'll be 400 miles away, I was met with 'well, you do know this is a job interview, you have to be serious about it!'.

So to divert the situation they've started questioning my holiday record...

All this from an HR Engineering manager in charge of watching 10 peoples careers, and nothing else. I hadn't even heard of her until last month! What the hell must she do for a living?!

However her surname is 'Watts', and on site she's known as 'fifty'.

i.e. ...not very bright!

there couldn't possibly be a HR dept worse than ours....they outsourced all their work too, because they were too crap to do the jobs themselves!

Same here. Outsourced to ANOTHER bunch of idiots.

I don't understand why an HR manager here can earn 45k. It's much more than a similar role in another area of the business.

Depends on what you perceive the function of the HR department to be. It usually is not to look after the people who work for the company but to assist the company in exploiting them to the maximum.

Whatever, I'm the HR department. So whatever I say goes:cool:

At least some only employ hot girls. That makes it easier to understand their function.

Watts eh?
We had one called that.
Anyway we refer to the HR department as Human Remains
Says it all really.Maybe in these hard economic times they will get rid of these wasters but somehow I doubt it.

I blame the lawyers for the current trend of HR lunacy. I blame the lawyers who are also the HR dept even more :smt064

Basically the HR department is now tasked with ensuring that people who are never likely to go near a cardboard box know how to lift one, that people know to look where they're going so as to not trip over things, and that people know that fire is hot and you should move away from it.

Oh, we've got a huge SHE (safety, health and environmental) team here. They rule all, and answer to none.
