I was at Rockingham National yesterday and had a great time although we only had two sessions in which nobody crashed and that was good compared to the inters and the fast group.

The worst crash was bizarre, the fast group went out and somone crashed almost immediately breaking his leg causing the session to be red flagged, as everyone was coming into the pits a guy gunned it out of the hairpin and smashed into the back of a guy on an nc30. the guy on the nc30 was okay bar a few scrapes but the other guy was quite badly mangled and the air ambulance was called. Then, as both ambulance crews were busy, most of the afternoon was lost whilst we waited for another ambulance and the air ambulance.

Other than that it was a good day.

Nearly got my knee down as well.

get your bum more off the seat and get your head down more and you will have a perfect position

looks like you had a good day

how much it cost?

Will try harder next time, it cost 130 with Hottrax on the national circuit which is a good one for the sv as there are no long straights so the lack of power isnt so noticable.

That guy sounds like he should have been lynched! What a ridiculous thing to do!

Well, it sounds like karma struck :o

Damn, I'd want that guy to pay me my money back! Its only like 20 metres form the hairpin to the pitlane!

That sounds rediculous......was it raining sunday I cant remember.

I was going to do the 21st with Hottrax glad I didnt now lol we did the sunday before with No Limits instead.

The track is pretty good though, its the first time I had been to rockingham even though its pretty close. The lack of facilities is annoying, no where to get a drink or food and not brilliant for spectating unless the stands are open.

Its a fun flowing track, though not a fast one .....definately a very good SV track.

Food and drink are available all day on the other side of the track in the main stand building. There's a tunnel down some stairs at the left of the back of the pit garages that leads you under the track.

You can take the stairs onto the garage-top spectating area quite easily, and that gives a pretty good view of quite a bit of the circuit.

I asked a couple of staff and they said 'there a drinks machine there or a McDonalds down the road' lol

Didnt think it was that good on the pit garage, the other building blocked the majority of the view :(

Its a relly good restaurant where the staff are actually semi happy!!! ... sure you will pay through the nose, but the facilitys ARE there 8)

Rockingham is probably one of the best overall equipped tracks in the UK ... plenty of clean bogs, big garages with electric, lots of paddock area ... (and yes, a 1/2 decent restaurant).

Its not the best for spectating ... but then I tend to run tyre warmers, ride, poo and eat, not spectate!! ;)

As for the OP, sounds like there was a lot of wasted tracktime, which is a major bummer :( ... still sounds like you kept it sunny side up, which is a bonus :)

There seems a lot of crashing at trackdays these days ... what is up with everyone?

Tis true, at Mallory before I went on holiday pretty much every session in every group was red flagged with hottrax.

At rockingham with No Limits there was a few offs but no red flags, just yellows, much better organised in my opinion and a much better crowd.

No idea whether the cost of a day and organiser makes a difference.

I think hottrax are my fave trackday co, the people that work there are helpful and the briefing guy is actually human ... the brief is informative, but not condescending.

They are well organised too.

Its down to the mentality of the punters mindset and ability and ... well a bit of simple luck!! ;)

I dont think you can blame the organisers for the crashes?Unless the instructor bins it anyway.
I heard a rumour that Rockingham is pretty much bankrupt and likely to be demolished because no one races there? No bike racing anyway, and very little car stuff. It does have great facilities and that would be a criminal shame.
I blame the BSB crowd for destroying Rockingham by refusing to race there because of the tricky turn off the indy cicuit onto the international bit. They said it was dangerous.Considering how safe Rockingham is generally, and how dangerous other circuits on the BSB calender are, that strikes me as pure b0llox.Someone didnt get a big enough bung perhaps?

The National circuit is no smaller than say mallory, the national is safe enough ... or just run a different layout ...

It cetainly wont be demolished, what a waste of money that would be.

If it genuinely is struggling it will probably just get bought by motorsportvision lol.....then the BSB circus would come.

It would be a real shame. It's an ace circuit  Especially on the ol' SV! ;)

I'm not keen on the International circuit, I find the whole going onto the oval bit a waste of time. The two turns where you go onto the infield and off it are awful with bumps that launch me out of the CBRs seat. I'd much rather stay on the infield National circuit.

As far as facilities go, it's second to none.
