what do you mean by different swingarm?? if you mean off another bike, then you can. depending on the amount of work which you are willing to do to the bike. single siders have been done, braced, gsxr etc. on the sv the swingarm os most capable. its only changed for aesthetics.

Easiest and quickest is to fabricate one, a mix and match made out of a SV and ZX6R swingarm.
I really can not see the logical performance benefit you will get.

JMC and Metmachex do bling swingarms for a curvy. We were seriously looking at getting one, but the cost was prohibitive. Besides the curvy swingarm is lurvely. Polish it if you must

I want an RGV full stop, swingarm and the rest!!
Then shoe-horn in an RG500 engine.
Um, yea...swingarm changes; possible, but why? The engine dosn't overwehlm the chassis really

but i would have it in black powdercoat

We looked at buying one of those, but just couldn't justify the expense. I also wanted Harrison billet brakes:p
Dirtydog had a JMC on his curvy.
We actually thought that the Metmachex swing arm would suit the curvy more.

i lik the Metmachex swingarm just the fact it is £500

Whats wrong with the original curvy swing arm? It's a lovely bit of kit. Far nicer that that horrible slab on the pointy. Could you not get a spare one of those and powder coat it?
I'd balk at spending 300 quid on something that wasn't some kind of performance upgrade :o Especially when the original looks nice and is good for the job.
Get another stock swingarm off ebay and powdercoat it.
Or get pete and lissa's if it's still for sale :p

also had a wider rear wheel with a 180 section tyre on it.

see its lovly mabey there is only a couple of us that like them

It was a PITA! constantly needed cleaning and polishing, was awkward to use a paddock stand with, was awkward to adjust the chain, the tyre cost more and was of no benefit to the bike, the dog bones had to be specially made to get the ride height back to what it should've been.
IMHO more work and cost than it's worth even if it does look good

you can use the sv wheel cant you ?

That swingarm was off of a GSXR1100M hence the wider rim

ohhhhhhhhh right well if i get one im having it made. paddock stand boobins right size 2 use sv wheel ect
think ur better off saving for a new back shokky and front end swap ... now those 2 are performance enhancements and look blinggggggggg....

But you could put a wider rim in there and use a 180 tyre. Would almost be rude not to.
Won't do anything for the dynamics but would fill out the back end better.

No.
The curvy SV is a lovely bike, its got fantastic looks. I mean the frame is a work of art. But the swing arm is not. It looks as if they got down to the arm and the designer just failed to turn up to work that day, so they left it to the work experience kid who found some box section; and the rest they say is history.
While the JMC and Metmachex arms are an improvement and I even considered DD's arm sometime ago its still not the look I would want. The RGV and VFR arms are possibilities I still haven't seen the exact one that I'm looking for. Might just have to make my own*...
*Or pay someone to make one for me.

Why don't you have a glance round SVrider and perhaps have a search for single sided swingarm...
i lik the Metmachex swingarm just the fact it is £500
I had a Metmachex one on my JPS 350LC back in the mid 80s, it cost me about 450 quid then.

ZX6R arm can be made to fit fairly easily. 929 Blade arm, not quite as easily but not too hard. Both need welding though.

Yes but you need some components fabricated up and a SV swingarm to use as a donor.

Nah, not neccesarily, you could easily use different dogbones tailored to the Ninja linkage, and probably a touch of spacerage (which looks bodgey) I forget the exact details, or rather I don't remember what applied for the ninja and what for the Blade. The blade's the harder one, and also a bit short.
