Remus revolution fixing problem

Hi all.

Finally installed a Remus revolution on my K3. The sound is fabulous, though a little loud, even with the baffle still in. Can't imagine that Remus forgot to pack the can :confused:
Hmmm, maybe I'm just too old :smt015

Anyway, I have a problem to fix the exhaust to the rear footpeg bracket.
There seems to be enough play in the silentblock through the hole in the rear footpeg bracket to make the can move about 2cm's from left too right.Thereby it "rotates" over the linkpipe to which it is fixed just with 2 springs. With the oem exhaust this cannot be observed because it is in 1 piece and fixed at 2 other locations. Maybe I have to "fix" the can on the linkpipe by using some exhaust paste or what?

What's a bit strange is that I went to listen to the Remus on a K7-bike, and it sounded much quieter. Could it be cause of the cat(s) on the K7? I ordered a linkpipe without any cat :)

The can shouldn't be able to rotate I wouldn't have though. The bracket should be tight round the can and tight on the footrest hanger. Any chance of a picture of the area where it moves?

And, yes, I would say removing the cat probably would make the can louder :D

It is louder than the OEM, even with the baffle in, and it is a much deeper sound too.

I recently fitted a remus revolution to my K6. They dont have a band around the can to hang them, they have a proper small bracket bolted to the can, one of the reasons I chose it, cant stand the straps on aftermarket exhausts.
There should be no twist in it at all mate. It just bolts straight back on where the original one is fixed to the rear footpeg. If that nut is tight it shouldn't move.
The sound is fairly loud but not imposing with the baffle in.

Well, I can even put 100kg on the nut and it will still move. In the rubber(nr. 15 in http://alpha-sports.com/spst/2003%20SV650,S/41.htm (http://alpha-sports.com/spst/2003%20SV650,S/41.htm)) is a spacer(nr. 14), the same length of the rubber, so you just bolt against that spacer and thus cannot really tension the rubber. If there is play on the rubber while it sits in the hole of the footrest the can will move :(
I even went to a Suzi shop and compared the diameter of the rubber with that of a new one, there was no difference.
Did you fix the can to the linkpipe with only the springs or also with some special exhaust paste or what?

Are you meaning that the end can pivots at the rear peg mounting point.
If this is the case then there's not a lot you can do if using the standard insert. I personally am not a fan of the spring retainers as they are not "fixed". Is it possible to use an exhaust clamp insted of the springs ???

I literally removed the nut (16 in the link) put the new end can in place and replaced the nut. I didn t remove or disturb the standard rubber or bolt. the end can is joined to the link pipe just by the two springs.

Mine was like that and had no problem for over 2 years. It did the same when I had the Hi mount bracket fitted.
My titanium Remus Revolution I put the baffle back in, as I thought it was loud enough.

Aha, do you mean you could also swing the Remus left to right then? But it didn't give any problems on the long term?
It is a strange sight though if you're on a heavy road and the can starts shaking around :shock:

Samwilko had no problems on his K6. Maybe after 5 years the rubber starts to deteriorate and gets weaker due to the heat of the exhaust.

I have been thinking of fixing the linkpipe to the can with a clamp indeed. If nothing else works out, that's just what I'll do. Need to make some "incisions " in the can the though =P~

I'll try to post one this we, but I doubt there will be much to be seen. You really have to grab the can to feel it swings around.

Gentlemen, we're talking about a "Remus revolution" (trapezoidal shape) here don't we?
There is also the (oval) "Remus revolution gp" which also has a removable baffle but which has natively different - ahum - tonal qualities. The first one is ee-certified for the sv. Second is only UK "road-legal" :)

There is no difference for the physical attachmts, but there sure is for the sound :)

No long term problems as the can didn't shake about, to busy looking forward anyways :D. Hi mount had little more movement as the bracket was mounted further down as you can be from my picture attached, but still it was okay

Have you got ends of strap bolted to either side of bracket. Needs to be on same side, or have I totally misunderstood the problem?

Hmmm the Remus attaches kind of like the oem can, and is attached to one side (iner side) of the bracket.
