Speed awareness course? Worth asking.
Kwak did you have a little chuckle as he told you?
My old man got some a few years back and spent a month or two telling us how gutted he was! I had a bit of a smile on the back of his ones as he has never had a point or accident and used to get ROSPA (I think) badges every years as he was a Advanced HGV instructor!
Funnily enough my Dad got his first speeding ticket at 68, the road from Alcester to Studley in Warwickshire, nice wide open road, he thought it was a 60, but decided to plod along at 50, turned out it was a 40. Poor Dad was gutted.
I think his was £60 and 3 points and insurance weren't bothered about them as were his first points.

My dad got done about a year ago for doing 37 through a 30 on his GS and yes it was 3 points and 60 quid fine and yes he was also livid, the first he'd ever got.

I'd say £60 fine and 3 points, cos I got done at exactly same speed by a Gatso in Stockport 4 years ago. They off me licence though now :D
I've done 57 though a 40 & got stopped by a marked car - the outcome was £60 & 3 points. Your dad won't get anything different.
Since it was a gatso, it'll be an automated mail shot, first asking who the driver was, then another letter for the offence. Reply by post, and send the licence with the second letter. It'll come back with some nice writing on it (or not, if your dad is like me! :D )

No it isn't. You will get the offer of the course up to 40mph from a gatso or "safety camera van" in M'cr.

+1. Your father is a criminal and he must be punished.

I wish there was consistency. in lancs it is under 37mph
The missus got done for 35 in a 30 in the cage recently. £60 and 3 points or a speed awareness course for £67. It's a no brainer really.

Couldn't agree more Tim. National standards need to be applied.
