I'm looking for a chain and sproket for my K3 naked. However as I've just popped (read: blood sweat and tears) the swingarm off I thought I may as well get an endless chain.

Any recommendations for cheap and strong chins and sprockets for mainly commuting purposes - I'll buy a scottoiler to save doing this again!:D

The OEM one is a fantastic chain.

Agree with DD. We've always gone for the OEM chain. Got over 30,000 miles out of one:D

It doesn't look endless to me though!

I am toying with getting a new chain and sprocket set in the near future. The OEM one was tempting as it seems a good price for OEM but, will something like a DID etc be a better replacement.
Your thoughts greatly appreciated oh great org......

I think the oem one is a 525v, a classical and a bit obsolete did o-ring chain.
Now I also think the did 525 vm2 x-ring chain is a fair bit better in terms of keeping grease inside & thus will last longer.
What I did at 24000 km now is: I bought a new oem pair of sprockets (80E or 65Gbp) , cause these are VERY strong: neither front or rear shows visible wear! The did 525v is at EOL though. I also bought an endless DID vm2-chain cause I don't trust the quality of the rivet-links (and weakest link defines strength of chain remember :) ).
mounting an endless chain gives you the opportunity of regreasing the needle-bearings of the links & the swing. (& cleaning up properly the swing itself :) )

I bought my gear here: http://www.sv-ig.de/ig-shop/index.php?javascript_enabled=true
he DID 525vm2 is only around 83E. Very good alternative in my opinion is the RK 525 XSO around only 63E. I believe the RK will be far better than the oem DID525v

There's nothing to stop you doing swingarm bearings with any sort of chain except for laziness ;-)

DID ZVM is the stongest chain on the market, it is available in 525 and 530. It doesn't come endless, but it is easily rivetted.

With a Scottoiler fitted I got 25,000 miles out of one on an abused ZZR1100 before I sold the bike - the chain was about 3/4 worn by that time. I only ever needed to adjust it when I swopped rear tyres every 3,000 miles or so and sometimes it didn't even need that.

Thats because that isn't a picture of the SV chain and sprocket set mate.
