Looking forward to this - 6'2" & nudging 17st again but this time I'm blaming the knee surgery.

As soon it's better I'm gonna make a real effort.

You'll lose fat eating this way even if you can't exercise. If you exercise as well, then you speed up the process as you build muscle which helps to burn more calories and the exercise itself burns calories.

Probably write it up late afternoon as have a few things to get done this afternoon :-)

Can you still drink booze?

I'm eating very cleanly at the moment but seem to be stuck at 16 st 12 after losing 7lbs, looking forward to your write up.

Booze= empty calories so its moderation more than anything - well I would assume so

gruntygiggles
14-06-11, 04:38 PM
Booze...depends on how much you like it and how quickly you want to see fat loss. I don't give it up, but as Q says...everything in moderation. Don't eat too cleanly, you still need to have fats in your diet. It will take me ages to write up and I have to do some other stuff and have not had chance to sit and do it yet, but I will get it done this evening. Going to start now :-)

Thanks everyone!
Special thanks to Mike.
After his results (posted here) on a stationary bike I decided to give it a try.
That combined with GG's diet really worked for me.

Currently riding the bike 15 miles every morning and 20 on Sunday but I don't stress if I decide to sleep late and miss a day now and again.
And not just the weight loss, in much better physical condition.
I feel 10 years younger. (too bad I don't look 10 years younger) LOL

Oh and the lovely fireplace is at the inlaws. Nothing like warming the bones by a fire.
Was warm out this year and the first Christmas ever without a roaring fire. :(

I am now ~80kgs, so since I was at my biggest I have lost 21kgs, which is 3 stone and 4lbs roughly.

Trying to lose another 1/2 stone of fat, but also hitting the gym so time to bulk up.

This is often the best route for weight loss...no temptation to buy food because you can't afford it...always was my downfall. Well done on losing a stone. I've lost half a stone in the past week from being ill...not the most fashionable of diets but by eck, quick results.

6'2" 17st8lb, I'm planning on getting down to 15st (ish depending on how I look and feel at around 15,8).
According to my bmi I should be aprox 14st but i'm sure I'd look too thin.
Mainly because we're having our 2nd child later this year but tbh, I've felt overweight and a little down about it for the past few years.

Good luck fellow fat fighters.

John, are you a big frame as well?

I'm 6'1" and I'm a shade under 16 stone but apart from a belly a lot of my weight is muscle as I've got a physical job, my bmi crap thing I should be about 12.7, I'd look anorexic, I was 12.5 at school and I dissapeared if I turned sideways.

That gun video I posted last week was in 2000, I was 14.5 then and I'm skinny there.

Stunning numbers buddy.

I signed up for the weight watchers thing. The meals are a good size, and tasty, but not a load of substance to them. I like the way they points rate different foods and how I can trade different foods against others and still have stuff I like, e.g. bacon and egg for brekkie this morning.

I'm down 5lbs this week from a starting weight of 17st (5' 9")

Time to jump on the bandwagon again and get back down...Summer 2011 I was taking a few enhancers for definition and muscle mass and they worked so piled weight on (muscle weighs more than fat blah blah), so when I lost it, it was replaced quite quickly with food and undoubtedly, fat. I weighed myself 1st December 2011 and I was 105kg's

Fast forward to New Year, glandular fever, took the life out of me for two weeks and pulled anything I had to give out of me, home scales told me i was 96kg's...Now I'm better and since I have been careful with how and what I eat etc. Weighed in at the the hospital Tuesday for pre-op, I'm now 99.60 kg's...

Target was always 95kg's (15 stone area) but from pure training and fitness. I'm setting that as a starter and decide as I go along...

So....

30/01/2012 - 15st 9lb (99.6kg)

Drew Carey
03-02-12, 10:42 AM
As per Plowsie, also jumping on the badwagon again.......Lily has started slimming world again so by default - I am too. I have yoyo'd for years......last year I gave up ciggies (since September), now having a crack at the weight....Weigh in is every Wednesday so this is where I am so far;

18/01/2012 - 17st 5lbs (110.2kgs)
25/01/2012 - 16st 13lbs (107.5 kgs) - 6lbs off (2.7 kgs)
01/02/2012 - 16st 13lbs - No loss :-(

Hopefully can pick up as well as Mr Bigbaddad - thats impressive!!!

Will start to play along with this next week, need to get in shape for my wedding/holiday/honeymoon pictures. Don't necessarily want to loose weight, just rip up a bit and add some muscle mass.

Current weight: 11st 7lbs
Target weight: somewhere between 11st and 12st 7lbs but with less fat!

Appearance is what matters to me, not some arbitrary number! LOL

I have started running again, which I haven't done in 10 years and actually got up and went for a small run this morning. Aim is to run 3 times a week, 2 small ones during the week and a longer one on a sunday and mix in some excercise bike use as well.

As far as eating goes I am going to try out GG's fat loss program and try and make sure I eat every 3-4 hours. Will try and post here with updates so I have some additional motivation and to keep a loose record of results.

cycling to work isn't a bad idea, if you live a reasonable distance away and have the opportunity for a shower at work. (I pay £35pm for the gym literally next to our building and have a shower when I cycle in - what this costs I save in fuel). It's also a nice way to fit in your exercise as it's a journey you have to make anyway.

just googled it - that looks amazing I always assumed jerky was bad for you.

(salts probably high - but who cares if you're dying on the inside!)

I thought the salt would be high too but I googled it and its really low. It's different to jerky

i don't know...all I remember is I got very drunk with Speedplay one night just after Christmas. Last thing I remember was watching his copy of Brokeback Mountain (Bareback editors cut). I think I must have had a dodgy curry or something because next morning my bum was really sore........been losing weight ever since. On an completely unrelated topic....anyone know why I've got all these lesions on my body???

Therms mixed with a crash diet it is then. That's my guess.

Thermogenic tablets. Raises your body temp to help burn fat.

They do not sound very good for you.... do you have any examples of trade names? (I might want to investigate to get rid of last few pounds....)

My understanding was that Therms were a bit crappy and they've not been proved to make a difference (or at least a substantial difference)

Don't they burn something like 50-75 calories a day? Be easier to walk that off...

Just search for thermogenic diet pills.
I didn't realise it's easier to walk than to swallow some pills?
I've never used them, so cannot comment on their effectiveness.

Thermogenics are dietary supplements used in weight loss and weight lifting. Thermogenics raise metabolic functioning using stimulants like caffeine, ginger and ephedrine. Thermogenics increase the activity of the nervous system. As your nervous system speeds up, the body's functions, like heart rate and breath rate speed up. This increase causes the body to use more energy, or calories, to keep up with increased demand. The increased demand for calories is what causes the increase in loss of body fat. Consequently making thermogenics a very popular fat loss supplement.

Yeah but say you did go for a walk also, you would burn more calories when you're taking the pills than without.

Never heard of them until now, don't sound too healthy. (away to look them up) Haha

I know sally, but my point is they are expensive (like £30 for a months worth) for 75 calories a day? Walk EXTRA or do something extra :)

Having put a Stone back on over the winter I'm about to start one of those crazy "as advertised on TV" diets. However, being the scientific type and having met some other folks that have lost a bucket load on it (100lbs plus each), I've done my research and it looks good.

Before I say what it is and where I got the stuff I'll test it out. Don't want to recommend anything that doesn't work :-)

However, I'm expecting to lose 1-2lbs a day for as long as I'm on it.

Results coming soon... :-)
